The newest book I’ve read is Austerlitz (which is brilliant mind you) and I don’t really want to read anything beyond that, so I’ve no idea.

This is the greatest indication that literature is dead. If the supposed "bestselling book of the decade" is written by a literal WHO, then how did it get that title? Nepotism.

I doubt it sold more than a few hundred copies anyway.

I don't read modern "literature"

The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue.
Beautifully written, great premise too, but it didn't really click for me.
I wanna read something else by Schwab, because she has potential, but I'm too busy reading other stuff as of late.

>Beautifully written

Jesus. Go back to /co/.
>>
>>25177273
Do it, you won’t regret it; if you’ve read Sebald before, you’ll know there’s some Borges influence to be found in his work. Austerlitz has that sort of pessimism you can sometimes find in Borges with regard to memory.
>>
>>25177575
What awful taste, mr namefaggot. Go back, as the anon above said
>>
>>25176560
>mind you
Being a pretentious fag puts you in the same boat as the GoodReads crowd.
>>
>>25177575
I agree with the other guys. You need to go back.

If you think that writing is beautiful, brainrot has compromised your judgment and you need to spend a year with the classics.

Leave me alone. You guys are so mean.

I read the opening graf of Addie La Whatsit and it's shit writing from go. What's that anon on about?
>>
>>25177665
He’s from /co/ that’s what wrong with him. I assume it’s manchild central over there.

Are there any books written by women worth reading? I read the Vampire Chronicles last year and it started off as decent Gothic vibes then became weird shonen

Jane Austen is where romance novels should have ended.

>95% or more of modern literature is a fucking joke
i agree with you but I'm curious about that ratio from the time periods where all the classics were written. Surely was a lot of garbage then too, the only lit that's accessible to me really is what publishers have decided to keep alive and what the community has decided are classics, I guess
>>
>these many newfags seething
I wanted to say I love it, but then I realized: it means the bots sent all the oldfags away, and that the newfags are even more retarded than the older ilk.
>Classics are well written
>Jane Austen is genre slop
>"from go" instead of "from the get-go"
It's so fucking over for /lit/.
>>
>>25178441
Calling out your faggot taste doesn’t make anyone a newfag as much as you’d like to believe that. This is some tangible /co/pe right here.
>>
>>25178446
Anyone who thinks I'm from /co/ is a newfag, newfag.
>Newfag telling anyone they have faggot taste
TOPKEK. Every single response to my post was a bunch of redditors fishing for updoots. See: >>25177665
>The prose is... LE BAD!! Am I not right, my fellow plebbitors?
>Here's your updoot, don't get triggered, fellow plebbitor, let me point out something you could have already noticed on your own, but you didn't because you wanted my updoot: he has /co/ in his name. /co/ is... LE BAD!! Am I not right, my fellow plebbitors??
Go back.
>>
>>25177638
Actually there's an oldfag in here.
(You)ing for good measure.
What are you reading as of right now?
>>
>>25178470
>Anyone who thinks I'm from /co/ is a newfag, newfag.
I don’t remember seeing anyone with your dumb name back in 2012 (there was a /co/mmrade someone or other, I think he was a tripfag though, could be you, you’d know) but alas.
The rest of your post is again, a bunch of /co/pe. By all means, continue.

>I don’t remember seeing anyone with your dumb name back in 2012
Have you ever stopped browsing /lit/ between 2012 and 2026?
>>
>>25178499
And silence.
Hopefully the warosu newfag will come back.
I wanna ask him his opinion about Twilight and Hunger Games, since every /lit/ter was reading those books back then.
