It serves its purpose perfectly as an introduction to reading lit therefore it's good at the end of the day even if, compared to other lit, is mid.

I'm revisiting it now for the first time since my early 20s and enjoying it. The explaining of the mechanics of the world gets a little repetitive, but that's a minor gripe.
