We're getting deep into 2026. Are you reaching your yearly reading goals?

Gamification is for fags.

this is a retort only said by those who would be embarrassed to show their amount read because it would expose how little they actually do.

I don't really have a goal but I keep track of the number just for fun. I've read 16 books this year

no hes correct

I go from thinking having goals is peak NPC behaviour to thinking having goals is some kind of endurance against life's overall futility. One day I'll have a defined personality or a semblance of true belief, I swear.

Volumecells need not apply.
This only signifies the amount of time you spent on reading, not the amount of knowledge or peculiar experiences you acquired.

I've only read Half His Age, which I loved.
Avoid it if you are a prude.
I've seen anons praising George Saunders.
I know Anatomy of an Alibi is getting a lot of praises too, but not on /lit/.
I think of reading Heart the Lover, the rating is too high to ignore it, unless ABB uploads the Donna Everheart novel (check the premise, it seems pretty cool) in the next few weeks.

I don't do it online and don't try to meet any goals, but I track down what I've read and I've read 42 pieces of literature this year, but this includes plays and the occasional essay

>I think of reading Heart the Lover
All the GR reviews are women saying "I am NOT OK this book destroyed me I'm a sobbing MESS." Very bad sign.
