this mentality is why we're fucked as a species. there is absolutely no sense of self preservation that extends to protecting life, which would subsequently protect humans, as a majority of people live in blissful ignorance in just how bad the compounding problems humanity's piling on earth. you could make a difference, no matter how small, in simply going out and trying to protect the enviornment from the never ending spill of waste that's unleashed daily. every bit of plastic you remove is not going to end up in the gonads of some other being sometime in the future because you took the time to make sure it was removed. the book mainly focuses on pesticides, but i think the accumulation spoken about extends to every bit of manmade, unnatural waste.

I don't care. That's a problem for future generations.

Not gonna lie you’re one of the most badass people I’ve seen on the Internet today. Keep posting bro.

why's it badass to not care? this world needs you and that's the absurdity of it all. if everyone accepted it, what kind of world would we live in today? i think silent spring's opening chapter captures it pretty perfectly...

I think a lot of people subconsciously gaslight themselves in order to reject taking responsibility for their actions. It's so much easier to live with the thought that environmental issues are a conspiracy and a hoax, than to do something about it.

very true. but i really don't understand how someone reaches the conclusion that it only matters to future generations, forget humans. this is a problem that life itself on this planet is going to have to face until it's eventual destruction. is it fair to unleash forever compounding problems upon a world that will never be able to understand? we must fight for nature because it cannot speak for itself
