>Intellectually competent main character
>An understanding of history and geopolitics
This web novel mocks every single Mexican fiction writer, that's both laughable and depressing.

Why does Latam literature have to be obsessed with garbage that has nothing happening, but it's written in 'pretty prose'?

What the hell is this, anon?
I can't tell you you are wrong since I don't know what this is. How do you expect us to know this slop.

It's a web novel series in which Isekai's a Korean guy to the Mexican Empire. It's an alt-history where he makes Mexico a great country. But the main character is capable, intellectually competent, the story is rich with geopolitical and historical event analysis.

Very unlike most of Latin American books, where you have authors such as Juan Rulfo talking about barking dogs in one of his short stories.

Im mexican, source me up and I will check it out

Where do you read it? Sounds interesting.
And well, Rulfo is an absolutely different thing to this. A very different intention. Korea also has poetic slow paced books that muse on human nature.
I guess we do lack this kind of fiction in latin america. We do have historical novels, but are not really too interesting, or are very flowery purple prose which you dislike.
We do have, however, high quality non-fiction. Chronicles are something I enjoy.

Which Mexican empire? Iturbide or Maximilian? Because the first was O Algo: Kingship Edition for like two turbulent years before he ran out of money to pay the army, and the second was "reluctant Austrian noble is hated by liberals because he's a king and by conservatives because he wants to reform Mexico in a progressive way"

Because LatAm and pretty much all spanish literature is off-spring of cervantes. The view on literature is more about how you use the language to express yourself and less about the context, it's always something for the upper class or at least well educated people. The US was craddle to many genres like pulp and noir, which has allowed more grounded genres with maybe lesser prose by less educated writers but with a closer connection to the average joe.
Anyway, what a bizarre thing to make, specially by a korean author. But then again, i'm aware of the existence of Tezcatlipoca, a novel (and manga) by a japanese author about mexico so hey, maybe the west is as exotic to the east as they are to us.

'Me convertí en el principe herdero del imperio Mexicano' you can find it like that in Spanish.

Iturbide's empire

Haha, I just read the first chapter. It is very good.

I mean, of course if you knew in retrospective that Mexico would be invaded by the US and all the mistakes made during its first years of independence, you would surely make a great emperor. I myself have had similar fantasies.

Is this supposed to be illustrated? I only found texts, but I guess a webcomic should be illustrated?
>>
>>25184689
It's just a webnovel, not a webcomic, kinda like the ones you'd find on wattpad and shit.

Oh, I see.
I do see your point that traditional literature may feel stagnant when you compare it to these modern experiments.
It feels fresh and light to read.
I wonder if a full fledged novel with the same concept could even work. Probably not. The lack of detail and focus on storytelling makes it compelling, easier to write, and the author can be freely whimsical.
Thanks for sharing. I had never really put too much attention to the wattpad-webnovel community but I guess there are wortwhile things to read.

By the way, if you want to read about the actual post independentist mexico, guillermo prieto is the best source.
But very hard to find. Probably untranslated.
