I'm not a /lit/fag, but could you guys recommend some horror/gothic books? I’ve just finished reading Frankenstein and Dracula."I seek not gaiety nor mirth, not the bright voluptuousness of much sunshine and sparkling waters which please the young and gay. I am no longer young, and my heart, through weary years of mourning over the dead, is not attuned to mirth. Moreover, thewalls of my castle are broken. The shadows are many, and the wind breathes cold through the broken battlements and casements. I love the shade and the shadow, and would be alone with my thoughts when I may."
I liked Hunchback of Notre Dame. There's some funny parts, some "whale facts"-style infodumps about Paris etc., some cool arcane stuff with Frollo.

Try Shadow of the Wind by Zafon. It's only horror at the most macro level, but Johnathan Strange and Mr Norrel is a bit awful when considered. China Mieville's the Scar, too. Maybe even The Iron Dragon's Daughter though it's not gothic and it's your own reaction to the character.
The first 2-3 rows in this chart are good ones
And most of the ones preceding Lovecraft in this one also
And last but not least, a chart for gothic fiction itself, although it misses some of the recs of the earlier 2From a perusal of these three charts you should be able to find some interesting reads. Enjoy, OP
