I shouldn’t have to strain to understand what an author is saying to get little to no pleasure from it. Reading should be fun, which isn’t to say I read only mollycoddling garbage like Lord of the Rings. But my life is too short for Mrs Dalloway or As I Lay Dying.
>>25188697if you can't handle banks then perhaps edward Elmer Smith will be easier on you.
>>25188711No, I like Banks. Been reading 6 chapters in one sitting because he’s so fun. I’m high on ganja and coming down from MDMA, and trying to read Woolf right now seems so fake and contrived.
>>25188713you might like Bruce Sterling
>>25188697>But my life is too short for Mrs DallowayOne of the messages of the book in fact. It was just a little incidental Edwardian piece. Melancholic rather than Wodehouse's doltish romps. >>25188713It's not fake, it's stream of consciousness. Never pick up Joyce if Dalloway bothers you. Loving Banks too.
