Regarding Feast & Dance, I feel like there's one good book between the two of them. When you resort to a geographic split & timestream link-up, that's a clear sign your story is bursting at its seams. I'm convinced you could slice them down to a single, much more concise book while still telling the story. You could excise the entire POV of that Dornish nerd who got roasted by her dragons, telling his story via mentions by other characters. You could chop down Tyrion on the boat, not the Sorrows/Chroyane, that's good stuff, but other parts you could. And that's just for starters.More than anything, GRRM needed a team of editors to cut the fat, keep the story progressing and to keep his fat ass motivated. However, this seems to be a case of success creating complacency and yes-men.
