Your post just also generally ignores the fact that things like speech are not mechanically and simply determined by things like city environment when those are mutable spaces that can appear and disappear across time. For most of the history of the English people they have lived in the countryside, like basically all other peoples. The English have also over history been one of the most geologically mobile people. Moving around within their country a lot or moving somewhere else. If anyone was going to have their speech affected by living in cramped city environments it would be the Jews who lived in ghettos for almost two thousand years.
