Are you the 1%?
>>
>implying half of Americans read 2 books a year
>>
>>25194873
The gains from 0 to 1 are insane but then its not even close to worth. I guess I can read a book or something idk. The stranger is like 100 pages.
>>
>>25194873
ironically the 1% are much dumber than those who read 5 - 30 books
>>
>>25194873
That whole 1 book a thousand times however the maxim goes.
The thing is though it’s more likely than not that those reading more than 50 books are reading whatever slop they can find.
>>
>>25194947
The prayer of the illiterate. You’ll find it sounds very similar to
>I dun need no book ta tell me wots wot
>>
>>25194961
That meme arrow guy knows whats what I tell you hwat.
>>
>>25194873
There's no way you are reading 50 high quality books a year unless you are neetmaxxing and dedicate every day of your life on reading books.
>>
>>25194961
Everyone who responded 50+ is a foid reading smut

i read:
>1 english lit book per week (52 a year)
>30min of Chinese literature
>1-2 Chinese news articles
>30min of non-fiction (or more)
>15+ pages of Dutch literature
>20min of either French or German depending on my book
>10 pages of Latin/Greek
>Financial Times, Dutch/German/French newspaper depending on articles
>Law things for my job
>Anki
it sounds like a lot but really once you get proficient at reading and manage time properly its easily doable with other hobbies
>>
>>25195027
Congrats? I also read and study languages.
>>
>>25195027
my wife would kill me if I would spend so much time reading
>>
>>25194947
Statistically this is probably true because there would be tons of gooner women that make up that 50+ tier lmao
>>
>>25194967
That what I'm doing right now unironically.
>>
>>25195037
point is a book a week isnt difficult at all
>>25195045
get her pregnant
>>
>>25194873

Remember, if you don't sub-vocalize you aren't retaining near the same levels as if you did. Skimming and whatever tricks to read 500 words per minute come at a cost.
>>
>>25195114
Reading without doing that is retarded. How the fuck can you feel the POWER of the prose if you don't even hear how it actually sounds.
>>
>>25195114
Or you can throw your brain into the deep end and take off the training wheels and watch that baby fly.
>>25195128
>How do you feel without conferring with the voice in your head first
>>
I dont even count the number of books I read in a year, but I do know it's more than the average normie
>>
>or listened to
>>
>>25194967
I wagemaxx by reading books at work while pretending to be working.

Aye, I can believe that
>>

And you're a midwit. Go figure.
>>
>>25194873
Only read 21 last year, although in my defense one of those was Plotinus' Enneads which i think i spend like half of the year on
>>
>>25194873
The 10-15 range is a good bet. That’s what, a book a month? If you read a shitton of books there’s a good chance you’re reading slop or not absorbing what you actually read

So yeah, 10-15 range should be good, maybe 20-30 if you read fast but anything beyond that you’re probably just reading slop
>>
no idea how many i read in 2023 but this year so far i'm on book 34

50 books could be done with 1 hour per day.
