i have never heard of that author or book. l looked at the blurb on goodreads and it did not excite me. some books in the same vein as this one that i have enjoyed are "the diary of a rapist" by evan conell (sex crimes), "hell hound" by ken greenhall (pulpy violenece) and in middle school i enjoyed the "montmorency" series by elanore updale, which seems similiar in that in follows a detective who immerses himself in the seedy underbelly. you may also enjoy the television series "true detective".
