I didn't like the city building hook when it first arrived and then we fucked off on an adventure for a while. It's a little better now. I like the worldbuilding as vague as it is sometimes, because it strikes that balance of there being threats for low level characters but also a broad cast of high level assholes who just couldn't be bothered to clear out every rat infestation. Gotta leave some stuff for the lowbies.

For the "grand finale" it rushes through the actual fun bit. Too many characters, as usual, most of whom are irrelevant or boring. Not enough time is spent to really appreciate the trap or the reveal of the boss monster, so the fight feels like it ends before it really gets started. Maybe its my fault for speed reading this story sometimes but man there's so little at this point that actually makes me want to slow down and smell the roses here.

I read a lot of slop, write it myself, and have way more fun with it than literature, but not a single web novel has remotely made me sit back and think about the human condition in the way various literature has.

Why not? It's not like traditional literature is all that more insightful about what humans are truly like. They're not written by people who are experts in some field that factually knows what humans are like. All the oddities you see in web novels are about as true as your average traditional novel when it comes to the human condition.

Take Dostoyevsky's Crime and Punishment. People talk about it as though it's some incredible insight into the human mind, but it isn't. It's just fiction. If you look into how criminals behave then Raskolnikov's behavior is unusual. Regular people commit horrific crimes and rarely seem to get eaten up by it.

The problem with this is you're too focused on le funny rejection scenes and not enough on the MC and his desires and how he acts to achieve them. He has barely any motivation and you've just put him in a position to suffer meaninglessly.

Give him a child and make him a single parent and he wants a wife not just for his own happiness but because he believes his child needs/deserves a mother figure, and then all that stuff happens, and it's WAY more compelling. Maybe the kid is adopted or some shit, or the kid got accidentally isekai'd with him so he feels responsible.

Now all the commentary about how he's ugly and incel has emotional weight, and the shallowness of the women comes through. Make it even more meaningful by having the women agree to it BEFORE he kills the demon king, and then AFTER when they need to fulfill their end of the bargain, they try and renege.
