What do you think about inserting personal politics into your works?
>>
>>25198162
Being apolitical is a political stance.
Just by describing (as a whole or in part) a society, an era or something as simple as a family dinamic in a good light can be viewed as an endorsement of said entity (as a whole or in part)
>>
It's fine as long as you don't proselytize or strawman your political opponents.

Extremely low IQ post that shows you couldn't even understand the tweet OP posted

Weir is making 2 separate points, the first that he doesn't want to inject anything into his work other than the story and exclusively wants to entertain and not educate the consumer.
The second is that he doesn't want to talk about his personal political beliefs publicly which >>25198211 is addressing. Claiming no-opinion or not wanting to talk about your political opinion in related and valid discussion is simply because you're embarrassed that it goes against what is considered reasonable and "good", i.e that you're on the mutt-right and know you'll be shunned for being a retarded cult member
>>
>>25198162
I'll say the same thing I said in the /tv/ thread. All the great scifi have a "theme". It need not political but it certainly doesn't need to be as empty as Weir's work as well. It's not surprising that the man who wrote empty slop like The Martian and PHM thinks this way. This is also why he appeals to manchildren.
>>
>>25198812
You're getting called an incel either way, and your opinions are stupid but contextually convenient, so it doesn't matter.

You're a retarded cult member if everything needs to be about Fronald Frump. Why are you even on this website if you're such an odious midwit?

Apathy, ever the companion of oppression.

It's far beyond obvious why mutts do this and there is only 1 real reason. I'm sorry you're so indoctrinated in their propaganda that you can't understand simple things

I pity people like this who are incapable of enjoying or thinking about anything without injecting identity politics. Truly one of the most pathetic copes you can have.

Same as when you go to any video of a clip from a movie with a dictator, an old person, or an idiot character. There are always a few low IQ comments "hurr durr, reminds me of [trump, biden, etc]" to farm for cheap likes. Some people have made it their whole personality, and pollute things everywhere they go. These same people are incapable of abstract thought and have to inject modernity in everything they do, because they've never had a transcendental experience in their miserable fucking lives.

A work can certainly be political if it's organic but if you just pick a spot and "insert" it, you've got problems. -- Think of the last third of "Atlas Shrugged."

He didn't say he was apolitical, you retard.
And you're also wrong, like your fellow retards who call atheism a religion.
>>

Andy's personal politics are in the story. They're just sufficiently boring to not be remarkable. The world banding together to solve the problem isn't idealistic as fuck? Somehow a global task force is created with enough resources to build spaceships, to operate on aircraft carriers? Even the interspecies cooperation plot is heady idealistic space communism.
>>25198825
>doesn't want to inject anything into his work other than the story and exclusively wants to entertain and not educate
His work is injected with a fucking laundry list of his personal likes and dislikes from art to science and yes, politics as well. What he's presumably trying to say is that he doesn't want his story to just become preaching to the reader. But even that is half baked because there are plenty of good books that openly proselytize the reader. So the actual problem is bad writing.

This whole "THEY MADE IT POLITICAL" debate is uncharitably just a bunch of chuds being asspained by experiencing any media that disagrees with them. Charitably, it's more about the delivery being awful and they're just too dumb to articulate this. The back and forth on deliberately political media like Star Trek exposes them as drooling retards even when given hours to articulate their objections so the problem is likely the former, not the latter. Andy's comments were in direct response to this crowd as he said it on some youtube retard's podcast.

Is it one though. Most atheists are very dogmatic about their claim against God.

>I put no politics or social commentary into my stories at all.
The two stories of his that have become major Hollywood blockbusters both involve the governments of the world effectively working together in harmony to help a dude who's in space. If he doesn't think that's politics/social commentary, he's a fucking moron.
>>

>deliberately political media like Star Trek
Or any sci-fi, for that matter. It's always political. Cyberpunk stories, for example, carry a heavy undercurrent of anti-capitalism.

They say politics but really they just mean not making everything about Trump. Ideating international and interspecies cooperation in the face of an interstellar ecological crisis and using a non-genocidal solution to the astrophage is very political. It just didn't have orange man bad in it so he doesn't think he does politics.

I've said this before, but everybody gets a grace paragraph or two to go on a tangent, but if they're going on about it throughout the book, I think it's crass and kind of pathetic.
