Do you have respect for Oprah's book club she had on her show? Have you read the books that were recommended?
>>25207544What’s the most /lit/ book she recommended? Maybe I can judge from there
>>25207544I have no respect for it. You can't watch Tv (Oprah) and read a book at the same time. She is doing the same as pewdiepie, she has actually made herself more infuriating to me than Pewdiepie, and that's saying something, because at least Pewdiepie knows exactly what she is. He made his money, she made her money. she made you buy a book with her name on it like a trojan horse. and now you are glued to the TV with a catheter stuck in your pee hole eating frozen slop for dinner because it turns out she sold you a dream instead of a book. Fucking bitch.
>>25207559I guess it's subjectivehttps://www.oprahdaily.com/entertainment/books/g23067476/oprah-book-club-list/
As much as /lit/ will hate on Oprah she is far more well read then them and is a savvy cultural operator.
>>25207568Speak for yourself niggerlover>>25207566Okay… Dickens, nice. Faulkner, yeah nice, Anna Karenina, doesn’t take a genius to know that’s a masterpiece. But then we have Corncob’s worst novel and a bunch of niggresses very nice! You pass Oprah!
>>25207568Lmao. As much as Oprah will hate on /lit/ they are far more well read than her and they are a savvy cultural operator.
>>25207544She had 2666 on her book club
I really wonder about the behind the scenes for it, like who really picks the book and why, what kind of deals go down between publishers and the network. Because just look at the number of goodreads ratings for some of these books, upwards of a quarter of million in just a few months. It can make an author's entire career.
>>25207568Cultural operator emphasis!Books are magic and change the consciousness of those who read. When Oprah chooses a book for all the women in the world to read, it changes all women across the plane
>>25207544She made entire careers so her influence was massive. I guess you can use superstardom in worse ways. It’s a pretty wide selection although it skews more towards women and “black voices” than I care to read.
>>25207566i didnt know she likes colm toibin, kinda based desu
>tfw born too late to have your book reviewed and endorsed on Oprah's book club
