Its just a lot of pretentious blabber nonsense, only like the first 30 pages are interesting then he stops to elucidate what he originally started on. Just a complete waste of time, not all that good as people make it to be, there are other better french provocateurs more worth your time like baudrillard or lacan, deleuze too, but bataille? way too overrated and devoid of everything

I honestly don't know if you need much more outside of it, why the fuck would you ever read Epictetus after you realize that everything comes back to death and the infinite. All art points to it, all religion points to it, all sex points to it. Frankly, we are only the death itself and we will only ever be the death drive.
And if you do read bataille and this idea of sex as the dissolution of the self interests you, move onto Freud and Lacan to learn about the mechanics of desire and lack. Bataille is extremely psychoanalysis, at least in Eroticism, though I haven't read anything else by him yet.
