My own: Quintilian's The Institution of Oratory, Parallel Lives, The Aeneid, The Count of Monte Cristo, and The Power of Your Subconscious Mind: Joseph Murphy
>>
What's an alpha male anyway
>>
>The Aeneid
My brother in Virgil, that was propaganda for the Roman state.
>>
>>25214165
And? Everything that isn't a STEM textbook is a kind of propaganda.
>>
>>25214224
Firstly, I said it was propaganda for the Roman state. My point is that Virgil was not creating his own propaganda, he was repeating the party line (no discredit to him, he probably faced death otherwise).

Secondly, STEM is also propaganda. Maths, the "purest" subject, is propaganda. Curricula are propaganda precisely because they tell us what society deems important (or what society ought to deem important). Why did the ancients study geometry? It served a political purpose (agriculture). Why do we study compound interest and calculus? The former "legitimizes" finance, the latter is useful in engineering/ballistics (which is useful for war). Admittedly, most mathheads are far happier solving pointless puzzles with no real applications, but the pesky elites who develop curricula want "applications" to be taught as well, s.m.h. my head.

>t. studied maths

Supposedly, according to made up incel theories, the alpha/beta/sigma male is a categorization of men taken straight from observing a pack of wolves (the most referenced study is that of wolfs in captivity) and other speices, the common tldr is that the alpha is at the top and he gets all the bitches and is the strongest and whatever, the beta is a subordinate loser of some kind, and sigma is whatever the internet means when saying that word.
In reality humans don't really behave like a pack of wolves, not to mention how the whole concept is retarded and effectively has no proof, in some species the actual "alpha" could also be female and most of the time it's not like a chief of some sort who gets to call all the shots, rather they could manage resources and were actually shown to be more involved in grooming and so forth, not to mention how a beta is literally the second in command (if we apply this retarded incel logic) and not some loser who's always last because a beta would then take the alpha's place when the alpha dies for instance

So don't think about it too much, it's just a bunch of idiots projecting their insecurities and making up some random hierarchy and, what's even worse, trying to apply it to humans to justify their retarded believes, the whole alpha thing falls apart considering that the main and most important factor for success in dating is and will always be personality, as soon as people pretend that it's not the case you get actual psychotic maniacs breaking their legs and obsessing over every inch of their bodies and canthal tilt and whatever other insane bullshit they come up with, see clavicular for the latest manifestation of such internet-induced shizophrenia

Descriptive ideas can be true or false, that's what makes them descriptive. Normative ideas are neither true nor false. STEM essentially deals with descriptive ideas; humanities normative. the social sciences can be either/or.

I'm a 30 year old neet trying to turn it around. I've started going to the gym. I'm reading
How to win friends and influence people
48 laws of power
The Prince

Any other suggestions? I've been thinking of picking up chess as a mental past time. Considering going to university but undecided in subject
>>
>>25214294
First two titles are slop. Ditch the self-help. You're better off reading the biographies of men you admire.

I have a terrible personality but I’m jacked and have a big cawk, believe me if you ever had a girl she would leave you the second she saw me. I’m sorry bro it’s how the world works.

You think Donald Trump bagged supermodels because he has a good personality or because he’s rich and famous and when you’re rich and famous
>they just let you do it
>>
5 Millimeters of Bone.
>>
>>25214303
Well and this is just your personal anecdotal experience which is fine. If you went outside you would see that obviously not every couple is like that. Trump out of nowhere is also not a good argument.
Personality simply mogs as evidence shows time and time again.

These, plus make some friends and go outside. Work out and fix your diet if you're overweight.

I liked the suggestions. Do you think learning math can expand my consciousness like in the movie Limitless?

Is there any interesting reading on internet or social media induced mental illness/retardation? It’s obviously a thing and seems to be getting worse. Somewhere, people have to be digging into the idea that this whole internet thing, especially social media, is doing massive damage to people.

Who else should be on my list? I want to go chronological through and study up to the Bible. I'm avoiding philosophy because I'm genuinely too stupid. I couldn't stomach even the simplest plato. Its just not my thing at all. I don't really appreciate plays either
I'm not really trying to be an alpha male i just don't want to make a new thread

Any tips on developing the correct frame of mind to study this? Maybe I lack discipline but I can't care about math and making money, I'm somewhat detached from reality
>>
>>25217996
Thanks for responding. Yup, I have heard plenty of advice on learn math by doing and being an active participant. I just like finding any little gem that improve a my journey into medical school. I dont really follow the red pill philosophy of alpha grifters, not that is what the books mentioned are. Just that the arena is filled with low people like joe rogan, Andrew Tate, and Gary vaynerchuck.

NTA, but they usually only care about HS grades and maybe SAT scores or your country's equivalent. I don't think they account for years elapsed since graduation unless you're trying to get into some posh school or something.
If your high school grades weren't good enough or you didn't take the right classes, just take some upgrade classes at community college.
>>25218018
I can't speak to your personal situation. I like money because it gives you freedom. I have a side business that generates passive income, but I'm unemployed rn so I'm kind of poor. Math is just generally useful for all areas of life. If you have a sufficient grasp of math and language, you can do basically anything. Math is the language of science.
>>
>>25218036
>they usually only care about HS grades
I mean companies, not colleges or schools. Is it worth it to get a diploma if it will be useless?
>>
>>25218047
Fair point, but I think if anon were to go back to school (while working), it would make him more valuable than if he just continued to NEET all day. He might actually find it easier to network with professors and work the job fairs.
>>
>>25214086
You do not become an Alpha Male. Either you are perceived as one, or you are not.
