It’s hard to feel purposeful or invigorated when you’re reading about throngs of brave, strong, heroic-looking men getting leveled by unlucky shrapnel trajectories and stray bullets. A lot of the chapters contain detailed passages of burly blonde warriors standing up while unloading round after round or berserkers diving straight into enemy trenches and it always ends with a dead hero.
