Was he a hack? If yes, what were some non-hack writers he stole from?
>>25217350I don’t like him because he doesn’t like Joyce, that’s about it. (He didn’t even finish Ulysses, fag)
>>25217362>doesn't like Joyce>the guy who said that, were every book from modernity to disappear, only ulysses and finnegans wake should be spared that fateK bud
>>25217350I swear to god if you're that anime-posting faggot in the pynchon threads who's been shitposting all the gaddis and pynchon hate-threads like a retard
>>25217362No one with taste can stand Ulysseus
>>25217350Not really a hack, just someone without anything meaningful to say.Nabokov is Borges with depth.
>>25219109Lol
>>25219109
>>25219109this, but inverted with the exception of ada
he was a culos appreciator so he's good in my book
>>25217350We have two authors. Cervantes. Then nothing happened for centuries. And Borges. Who shit talks the language. What a joke.
>>25217350He is sort of cool but there’s a cult around him here where you have to either say he’s amazing or he’s the worst thing ever. He is neat but I don’t think he’s like a core part of the canon as Bloom says. Borges and Neruda on that list is just cringe. Those are two marginally interesting Latin American writers.
Some shorter Kafka stories and fragments are extremely Borgesque. The Truth about Sancho Panza, The Silence of the Sirens, Prometheus, Poseidon are the ones where it's apparent from the title alone. I don't think he was a hack though.
>>25220843The great wall of china is just a straight up Borges story what with all the pseudo essayist narrator and all.
>>25217350He has a few good stories, but I never got the hype. I often feel like I'm just having an idea explained at me.
