What if the title of GRRM's next book "The Winds of Winter" turns out to be a fart joke?

the entire series is a fart joke compared to Tolkien.

Fantasy fag authors are all fart jokes, i legitimately don't get how you guys can enjoy stuff being made up as it goes. "Oh look there's dwarves, there's dragons, there's also elves or some shit, now get hooked to the climax of the story when a completely new plot point taken out of our asses and explained by 'muh magic' saves the day" like damn, i swear i could get more entertainment from reading a history book

Yet you loved The Odyssey, Metamorphoses, Paradise Lost, Der Ring des Nibelungen and The Master and Margarita... curious!

t. NPC with no sense of imagination.

Tolkien derived fantasy is not the only thing that exists, and I reckon you limit yourself by thinking in this closed off way. These worlds are as real as you make them in your mind like any other work of fiction. Like any other genre of literature (and it is a bit of a reach to call 'fantasy' a genre on its own because many of these books have nothing in common) there are works that are more or less derivative, and more or less well written, so you have to be discerning.

Hes old and he wrote genre fiction
There's not much genre fiction author out there who write for the sake of literature as an artform or even recognizing themselves as an author (artist) in the first place; what they want is money and they see the idea of writing as a mere 'working' like corposlave doing their 9-5 or wagies serving burger to the customer.

Isn't that just dropping the pretense?

All fiction is made up...

>No no, you see, a story about the police trying to catch a serial killer on the loose is the same as a story where a wizard uses unexplained magic to kill a dragon because... Because it just is, okay?!?!?
>>

You're right, it simply is the same
