Ideally, how attractive should an author be if they want to get published?
>>
>>25219578
>putting all your books facing outward because you dont have enough books to fill up even one shelf
lol
>>
hipsters do this thing where they accentuate how shitty they look ironically but it backfires and just accentuates how ugly they are for real
>>
>>25219585
hipster is just code word for millenial
you're all the same
>>
>>25219578
Those comments aren’t real by the way though he does have a very punchable face
>>
>>25219587
>>25219585
Hipster is a specific subculture of the 2010s. Using it in a generalized form just outs you as oldfarts yourself. Minimum 30 years old, maybe 40.
2016 was a decade ago.
>>
>>25219578
He'd literally be fine if he wasn't wearing a stupid shirt and showing off his receding hairline.
>>
>>25219619
Hipster was already out of fashion by 2016
>>
>>25219578
being an author is literally the job where you can look like whatever because your job is to write words, unlike say actors or musicians who require stage presence
>>
>>
>>25219647
Readers still prefer a type for the books they read. You want Knausgard to write introspective autofiction and hollaback to write about muzzies and sexclubs. Try switching those faces around and see how appealing their work sounds then.
>>
>>25219662
>introspective autofiction
Yawn
>>
>>25219667
Do you realize how wealthy and famous Knausgaard is by writing this?

Knausgaard is the king of chads, and chances are any middle class woman you've read has either been made wet because of him, or would be made wet because of him. That's no cap. My French flatmate once told me that she literally touched herself and orgasmed hard when she read Knausgaard. She would end up literally lying there with her legs bend and up in the air, gaping and wet, bright red all around her crotch area, glistening down there, slick, steaming almost, her mouth hanging open, eyelids heavy, hair a mess, literally just jabbing her joined fingers at her pussy by the end of a reading session. She wore herself out just reading about him going to the supermarket, or feeling awkward during a date, or making coffee with his wife or whatever. She worshipped the guy, sent him emails and everything. Think she flew to Berlin or some shit to attend a talk he did one time. It wasn't only the sexual scenes either. She just loved his writing and was obsessed by him as a tall, white, hunky, sullen, tortured soul. She had read everything he wrote, just loved the guy. She didn't even have any IRL bfs as far as I could tell; she was saving herself for him. I asked her one time, would she be as obessed as she was about him if he was under six feet tall. Her reply? She would move on immediately to another author.
>>
>>25219680
This is the gayest thing I've read today. If this isn't fiction then you should embarrassed about placing so much weight on a foids reactions.
>>
getting published isn't that hard. if a group of 10 can all get published together then it's logically not that hard.
>>
>>25219699
let's see your book then, smugfuck.
>>
>>25219701
not the point i'm trying to make. if a group of 10 related people can all get published at the same time you're gonna have a hard fucking time finding some basic identity datum that qualifies you for getting published.
>>
>>25219578
Being an author isn't the type of job where you don't need to be acttractive because you don't need to show your face? I don't understand how mid-to-ugly guys like him keep doing face reveals

Most authors write under a pen name and don't reveal their face until they are already famous.

I was thinking the same. I wonder what the average age of a lit poster is. I assumed 4chan essentially died and most of us were oldfags in our 30s and 40s by now. The idea of 40 year old men following and commenting on 20-something internet personalities sickens me. I don't know why I come to this forsaken place.

See ya tomorrow.

Yeah, millennials are painfully ugly, inside and out. Your point?
>>
>>25220541
>Being old is ackshually le based!!11
Millennials have to be the generation that aged the worst. I don't see Gen X or Boomers being this mentally buck broken after getting old...
>>
>>25222005
Zoomers hop on HRT just to not go completely bald at 20.
>>
>>25222005
What are you talking about zoomers are by far the most insecure about aging. They think your life is over and you qualify as an old man at 25. A 25 year old dating a 20 year old is pedophilia to them. Your post makes zero sense. I know 28 year old women going around calling themselves grandma completely sincerely. And every other post on this website is a 26 year old who wants to kill himself because he isn't making six figures and doesn't own a house.

>>25219619
Not to mention how self conscious and aesthetics obsessed gen z is, but enough about that.

Why....

lol, the irony is that I wasn't even complaining about being old, only pointing out that older men being an audience to youtube zoomerslop is pathetic... zoomers are extremely sensitive to aging.

I wonder how many books all this clever marketing is selling.

I can't fathom what it's like to take the judgements of women seriously, as being more than "optional bonuses" when they go well for you while being utterly meaningless when they don't. There are so many men for whom women's approval is a deep need, like the second lowest layer of Maslow's hierarchy of needs only second to basic food and shelter, but this makes no sense to me. One of the first things I realized after puberty is that women are totally unreliable narrators of what they want or appreciate, even to themselves, and also that they are extremely cruel about wielding this mutability against any suitor stupid enough to ask them outright "tell me what you want from me."

This doesn't mean you shouldn't try to model it and get the basics down. Women seem reliably to dislike when you stink (although I've seen them bend even that rule plenty of times). They seem to like when you conform to basic grooming standards and so forth. But if you spend 9 years trying to figure out the right way to part your hair or pleat your collar or whatever, only to have women yank the football away regardless, you should realize it's a fool's errand.

Most of all I can't understand men who are emotionally hurt by women's cruelty. It's like being upset that a dog bit you. Some dogs bite. Some don't. There are a few things you can do to minimize the chance of dog bites, but going around the wilderness trying to pet random dogs and other canids in the hopes of not being bit is foolish. Or take cats for example. When I go to a friend's house for the first time and I try to coax the cat over to let me pet it, I may have success, I may not, the cat may regard me with studied indifference, but I don't get downright sad if the cat doesn't like me. I just think "well, I guess it's not that kind of cat." Like I said, you can do the bare minimum sanity checks: "Am I blanketed in some cat-repellant stench today? Did I scream 'COME HERE, CAT!!' at the cat in a way that obviously startled him?" Or conversely, when you seem to have a winning streak of instant cat friendships, you can make note of it and try to correlate it: "Apparently cats like me when I've just made tuna salad with my bare fingers. I should remember this, if I ever really want to touch a cat." But there is no sadness in any of this.

One of the greatest paradoxes in life is that you probably have to have some success with women to conclude that success with women is as meaningless as failure with women. Men who have never been the recipient of a woman's infatuation (and just as importantly, its collapse) are liable to all kinds of delusions like "I must be worthless because frivolous Instagram floozies don't approve of me, with the same level of feeling I have when I 'disapprove' of a porn actress when I choose another porn actress over her when selecting a porn video to masturbate to (except with additional random cruelty, as I don't feel the need to alert the porn actress personally that she is ugly)."
>>
>>25219659
>Sorry ladies this guy has a botched circumcision
Self-deprecation really is only funny if you're at least a six. Otherwise women read it (correctly) as pathetic lampshading.
>>
>>25222297
It is like having super powers. People think you are more talented and capable than others just because you look good. It’s kind of amazing. Just look at all these girls lose their confidence and interest in this guy at one glance. Being ugly is the worst sin imaginable and people get treated quite badly for it.
>>
>>25222298
i read the first line obviously not the rest, this is a guy who looks like shit to guys as well, he's small ugly and a nonathlete, looks like a nobody
>>
>>25222313
But look how much you've internalized that looking like shit is more than an incidental fact about a person. Most people look like shit, or at least boring and ordinary. Most people are old, bald, poorly dressed because they are aiming a functionality due to their work or convenience that day. It's always nice to see an especially attractive person, but it's not that big a deal. It's like seeing a tree whose flowers are in full bloom at just the right time. It's nice. But not every tree needs to be forced violently into that state at all times, and most trees don't bloom at all but are beautiful for other reasons.

Baldness is a good example. Baldness is normal. Most men wouldn't notice baldness at all if women hadn't trained them like pets and forced them to internalize women's beauty standards. Women are able to have these standards for a reason: They can't produce or understand anything like Caesar, so they look at Caesar and say "But he's bald though." A man looks at Caesar and sees a lot more than that.

Not really talking to you of course, but to anyone who can read and who might have come to your conclusion for a reason other than retardation.
>>
>>25222351
Of course it is. It's like I said "Eating a thousand oranges is stupid, but eating some oranges is okay" and you replied "Dude look what you're defending, with zero citrus intake you will get scurvy."

I hope I receive at least one reply from someone who doesn't experience primal chimp fear at seeing a paragraph, and immediately collapse it into the nearest sentence-shaped simple point vaguely related to it.
>>
>>25222337
Totally wrong. Even if you don't possess innate physical beauty, having striking, distinctive features, or unusual aesthetic preferences which cause you to possess them are the most elementary means by which the elect are distinguished from the normalfag herd.
If you look and dress like shit and have no distinguishing qualities other than a retarded, unfunny t-shirt, bad skin, and a grating, nasally voice, chances are that says an awful lot about your character. Or lack thereof.
This guy would be better off being genuinely hideous like Houllebecq than whatever the fuck he was trying to pull off in op's pic

And just fyi Caesar seethed about his hairline and did what he could to conceal it
>>
>>25222351
He has very slight acne, but he doesn't look unhygienic. No part of his body or clothes is dirty in any way and his hair isn't messy either.
>>
>>25222361
Of course, but what you're saying was encompassed in both of my posts.

>>25222365
I didn't read your post because you are stupid and writing from your phone, I'm sorry. One of those would be okay, but not both in tandem.
>>
>>25222378
>what you're saying was encompassed in both of my posts.
You said that looking like shit is an "incidental fact". I am saying that it's an outward reflection of their character. You're right that there's nothing wrong with being dull and average, yes most people are.
But I don't pay attention to most people and neither should you. Physiognomy and style supply helpful, albeit fallible, heuristic tools whereby different types can be distinguished without having to waste time assessing them on an individual level.
>>
Only beautiful people can create beautiful art. Aesthetics are the single most important trait in this world. If I was king, all of the dysgenic would be put up against the wall.
>>
>>25222389
Incidental doesn't mean "nonexistent." Like I said, of course it would be nice if everyone were maxing out their potential to look their best, but it's not reasonable to expect, especially when we start to get into things like baldness or height which are beyond their reasonable control. People shouldn't be made to feel like being bald or short is more than an incidental fact about themselves. Caesar was Caesar regardless of whether he was bald, to men. To women, he's just a bald guy who could be hairier. The point isn't to destroy all minor aesthetic preferences but to maintain a hierarchy of priorities in life. Women have retarded priorities, which is fine since they're retarded and can't be helped. My original point was simply that caring as much about whether you or another man is bald as a woman cares about it is silly, and the silliest thing of all is asking a woman "How could I be better for you?" because they'll demand that you be a shining golden god and then still fuck a stinky drug dealer with leprosy anyway because he radiated an intangible aura that reminded her of her abusive dad.

The twitterification of 4chan is a tragedy.
>Person 1: As a big fan of cosmic horror, I wonder if Ligotti's interpretation of it isn't too narrow. I appreciate Ligotti for what he is, but I think there's a lot more to cosmic horror than the psychological-existential dimension he focuses on.
>Person 2: SO YOU'RE SAYING COSMIC HORROR IS BAD? DEFEND THAT POINT, NOT THE ONE YOU MADE.

that's because they don't go far enough. You're supposed to monster max
>>
>>25222408
You are completely missing my point. I don't care how many women want a guy to fuck them, I care whether a man presents himself such that I ought to take time out of my day to listen to what he has to say. Beauty and aesthetics have both a moral value in themselves, as well as signalling to the world that their bearer is more likely to be in possession of a superior mind.
If traits like height are relatively immutable, then they must be in some way compensated for in order to maintain that aura. E.g. Mishima was 5'4 and pathetically weak, was aware of his shortcomings, and so went out of his way to birth within himself the most unimpeachable sense of aesthetics and taste of the 20th century. What he didn't do was put on a dumb t-shirt and attempt to celebrate mediocrity as some kind of irony poisoned virtue.
