Should I consider reading this?
>>
Sure, just don't be influenced by social media grifters claiming it's the best novel ever. It's a very fun book.
>>
>>25220113
I enjoyed it but my life wasn't changed by it.
>>
>>25220113
no. see any other thread about it. derivative, shallow, amateurish...
>>
>>25220113
>>25220162
its fun. if youve never read nabokov maybe its mind blowing, etc.
>>
I need to pick it back up. Truant's footnotes caused me to put down the book. I have half a mind to skip them, but I know that I should try to read the book on its own terms. It is crazy, because I usually love page long footnotes. I just hate everything about Truant's voice.
>>
No just read IJ

Like 20 years ago albeit.

Imagine it was called House of seethes and it’s just a bunch regurgitated 4chan rageposts throughout the years being screeched through the walls.
>>
>>25226191
or dont because its not
imagine only having 4chan as a reference point?

It got me into DOOM
>>
>>25226193
What’s wrong with that? Aside from everything?
>>
>>25226971
I too got into the book because of the My House Doom megawad.
>>
It's Danielewski's best work.
Only Revolutions leans into the gimmick more and is more about nostalgia and emotion than 'narrative'. It's maybe worth a read too.
Fifty Year Sword is cool but very short.

House of Leaves is, ironically perhaps, Daneilewski's most accessible work in the sense that I think if you took a random sample of 100 people, it would be the book that the most of them would get through/enjoy.

I read the plot synopsis on wikipedia and watched some analysis videos by influencers. It's overrated tripe that relies on gimmicks to mask its lack of wit.
