>War is le hecking bad dude!
it is
war is a comfy happening overseas
>>25221632Yes.
>>25221643This guy gets it
>>25221713until it’s not
>>25221643“War” is literally an ongoing 30 year long conflict that ZOG managed to frame as the defender being the aggressor. No one ever refers to Kiev sending in soldiers in 1995 to oust Meshkov and put down the resistance as a “war” even when it is. An illegal annexation and war.
>>25221643>>25221713Go participate in one then.
Tolstoy at least earned the right to say it unquestionably
>>25223786The guy was a decorated soldier, killed multiple people in war and duels, and burned down villages full of people. I hate when people act like Tolstoy developed his pacifist views out of thin air. He fucking lived everything that happens in all of his stories. He knows what war and death really look like.
>>25223786>>25223798Based.
I mean, it is
>>25223798This convinced me to give War and Peace a try.
>>25221632Do you think it’s good or something OP?
>>25221637Source?
>>25224175It's not good it's BASED
>>25224180slava ukraini, twin
>>25221632He fucked women and had like 14 children. Why should I, as an incel, take his opinion seriously?
Not controversial.
>>25224175Gore videos make me laugh.
>>25223798Which war did he fight in? One of the Turkish ones?
>>25224627Crimea. So, yeah one of the Turkish ones, but the Turks were backed by a Western coalition.
>>25224634Man what a disaster that was. >Russia wants to help Christians suffering under Turkish yoke>England flips out and says no you can't do that you'll get too much power in the fucking BalkansBig fan of England of that era but they were objectively in the wrong on this one
>>25224645>Big fan of England of that eraConsider suicide
>>25225373He's right though. One of the most inspiring chapters of human history.
>>25221752Shan't. That's for the cattle stupid enough to die for elites.
>>25224645Why would England ever let Russiahave access to a warm water port? Make it make sense.
>>25221632War is le hecking wholesome and trans friendly peacechud.
WAR IS A FORCE THAT GIVES US MEANING
>>25224167Also read his short story The Prisoner of The Caucasus, about Russians captured by Tartars for 10 weeks, and yes, Tolstoy based it off his own real live events in war.
>>25224610Nta but i've seen gore videos and gore in real life, only coddled pimply dorks act like watching it online is something to be self-satisfied with.
>>25221752Bring back Napoleon for another shot at ending the ulcer on humanity that is Russia and Russians. That would make it worthwhile.
>>25221632>mass suffering and death is le GOODWhen are you enlisting soldier? There's a war going on right now.
>>25221632Tolstoy's descriptions of direct-hit cannonballs colliding into humans and horses will be enough for most people to realize war is not le hecking good.
we could use a good war to cull all the whiny incels and brown zoomies ngl
>>25225410he wrote quite a bit of war stuff based on his real experiences, he was in the siege of sevastopol in the worst most bloodiest position, and was also part of a counter-insurgency team in the caucuses the sevastopol sketchesthe cutting of the forest the raid the cossaks
>>25225453I really want to read The Cossacks, I read Hadji Murat (Murad?) a couple weeks ago and thought it was based
>>25223798Profoundly surprising considering how tepid and confused his passages on war are—often just segues to another handwringing cry session. Nothing of the innate drive and adrenaline in actual fighting. Maybe the officer class was as homosexual and detached as ours today is.
>>25225458>Nothing of the innate drive and adrenaline in actual fighting.I agree with your other critiques but I'm not sure about this one, I finished War & Peace last week and many of the 1812 sections have entire paragraphs dedicated to describing the morale boost that entire Russian convoys feel before an optimistic mission, even when cold and hungry. Maybe Tolstoy's language isn't scientific or biologically-inclined enough for you, but he definitely describes these things. Hadji Murat also has this, and that story is probably more "violent" (as in more savage or barbaric) than War & Peace.
>>25225458How many wars have you fought in?
>>25225468I suppose there is the morale in assembly element but I mean the actual fever pitch of battle, the moving on instinct, the complete blot on the mind drenched in action which thought sorts out later. By contrast I was amazed to learn that Stephen Crane never fought for how well this is portrayed in The Red Badge of Courage. >>25225469Some.
>>25225458>Nothing of the innate drive and adrenalinethats just not true
>>25225489Name one
>>25225497Did I miss a passage? God knows he projectile vomited every word he knew over 1500 pages but I don‘t recall a single instance of war described except as tepid and disjointed fodder for his ideology. >>25225500That‘s not information I share on 4chan. Disbelieve me if you like.
>>25225507>Disbelieve me if you like.I do.
>>25225507at the very least he describes lots of adrenaline surges in combat and crashes afterwards
>>25225515That seems to conform with my morale in assembly point with little to speak of battle description. It’s shouts and cheers ad nauseam.
Only people who've never suffered through it directly think otherwise.
>>25225542No bro war is like heckin chad n sheit look at this glitchwave edit of people dying with shitty distorted electronic music in the background
>>25225546No, I will not.
>>25221632Then Alexander should have upheld the terms of Tilset and not initiated plans to invade Europe.
>>25225489>I mean the actual fever pitch of battle, the moving on instinct, the complete blot on the mind drenched in action which thought sorts out later. When did you last read War and Peace? The Austerlitz and the Borodino campaign chapters do have these.
>>25224554slava rossi brotha
>>25225533the part where pierre is at borodino and is chasing after a french prisoner that escapes from the redoubt due to explosions and cannonballs is a pretty simple and obvious example of what you claim isn't in the book. tons of paragraphs dedicated to showing how he constantly wrestles with his fight-or-flight system. you really sound like you didn't read or pay attention to the book.
>>25225565Nikolai in battle is an obvious one too
>>25225507going on a safari where you shoot the occasional brown person is not a real war
>>25225446The ruling class is coming to this conclusion right now. Genuinely don’t be surprised if they stupidly escalate into a world war for this reason.
>>25225565>tons of paragraphs dedicated to showing how he constantly wrestles with his fight-or-flight systemThis is what I‘m talking about as Tolstoy using disjointed impressions as tepid fodder for ideology. It is absolutely insane and laughable to paint the fact that characters consciously deliberate their actions under fire—for pages on end—and as pretext to meditate on the nature and morality of war, as him portraying battle. >>25225559I remember quite a lot of such garbage in Volume 1 particularly. As I said it‘s possible that I missed a passage somewhere given the sheer walltexts of drivel—but if I did it’ll be in Volume 3. For which matter it might even be that Pierre chasing the prisoner is in fact a particularly forgettable example of what I‘m looking for. But on the whole his treatment of war is stupefyingly absent of its legitimate substance. >>25225601I don‘t remember anything noteworthy here one way or the other.
>>25225629>keyboard warrior upset that actual warrior didn't portray violent suffering as exclusively heckin based and epic>anything that doesn't validate shallow beliefs is le drivelMeme existence
>>25225629>I can't recalldamn we got a real politician here on the board
>>25225695By mentioning "exclusive" portrayals you‘ve opened the door to the fact that almost every war memoir or piece of war fiction prior to social realism does attempt a balance of the tragic and sublime. It‘s conversely Tolstoy who latches onto one side which suits his agenda and contorts reality as needed to fit a terrible novel.
>le SUBLIME!
>>25225838I‘m describing the mental and physical portrayal which would be the only coherent perspective for WAP characters and which has appeared in literature from Homer to Balzac. Tell me more about who‘s living a meme existence, frogfag.
>>25225629>on the whole his treatment of war is stupefyingly absent of its legitimate substanceSo powerfully retarded>could tolstoy, the greatest realist writer of all time, who was a soldier and survived combat several times, be correct about suffering, death, and mass confusion being the substance of war?>of course not, he was mistaken, war is so fucking CHAD!! No I've never enlisted or seen combat why do you asknever change /lit/ lmfao
>>25225881You‘re asserting things I didn‘t say and ignoring the fact that Tolstoy was a liar about basically everything which contradicted his forced ideological perspective (and a hack.)Once more, almost the entire rest of the war canon is against him.
>>25225904>Tolstoy was a liar about basically everything which contradicted his forced ideological perspectiveSuch as? It seems you're the one doing that by dismissing subjective experiences that don't confirm what you imagine a situation to be
>>25225629>you dont understand thougbro killing people so some land owner can expand their passive income is actually freaking sublime bro!i hate LARPers so much
>>25221632I suggest every warmonger be conscripted to be a meat shield for drones.>war is subli-AAACK>dies a slow excruciating death while being infested with maggots
>>25225953I'll take Hemingway's word that Tolstoy described war better than anyone.
>>25224645Politics are not governed by morality.
>>25225507You are an unfortunately stupid individual.
>>25225419>Bring back Napoleon for another shot at ending the ulcer on humanity that is Russia and RussiansYou can literally volunteer to go kill russians right now you knowHell ukraine has already been more effective in killing russian than napoleon
>WAR IS LE GOOD BECAUSE MUH LIBTARDS O ALGOt. skinny first worlder who can't even talk to a girl without shitting himself
How do warfags even exist after ww1 and it's massacres on the trenches destroyed their delusions?
>>25225419Right...
>>25221643>>25221713t. sex trafficker and child cannibal.
War is only good if the cause is justThe only truly justified war today would be a global war against international jewryBrother wars among Europeans are never justified
>>25226064You‘ll take a confirmed liar and repressed tranny‘s word on the validity of a suspected liar and repressed tranny?
>>25226358>you want to fight the eternal enemy for a European hegemony and cultural renaissance? Why not ZOG and NATO? It‘s all so tiresome. >>25226743Notable that England, Russia, and the Vatican (and America in the present day) are non-European entities such that European states which accept their influence and support violate the spirit of brotherhood first, thereby becoming fair game.
>>25226750you are obsessed lmao
>>25225458You're a nigger who never read his description of Austerlitz, it leaves you breathless
>>25226759you have never uttered an original thought in your life, have you
>>25221632He was an artillery officer and fought in an actual war. What the fuck have YOU done that makes you more qualified to comment on the subject?
>>25225938An easy example is the depths of fantasy to which he retreats to avoid saying the Grande Armée was killed exclusively by the weather. There‘s a fair bit of Russian propaganda involved throughout history in claiming that Borodino where the French suffered fewer losses and gained the field was anything but a French victory; but that he goes on to claim Russia achieved some kind of psychic victory and the Occupation of Moscow was a process of the French "licking their wounds" is nothing short of delusion, or deception.
>>25224645>Christians suffering Eastern Orthodox heathens aren't Christians.
>>25224645The entirety of geopolitical attitude towards Russia over the centuries seems to essentially just boil down to: "Don't let those faggots have a warm water naval base"
>>25227429This is really stupid and overdone. Akin to '[x] isn't white.' Shut up. We don't need this divisiveness. >>25227433Didn't they have one on the black sea for a long time?
>>25227439They had Sevastopol until Meshkov was ousted though Putin annexed it again in 2014 to prevent it falling into Maidan Kiev's hands. They also had one in Syria if you count that.
>>25227425He says outright that the Grand Armeé had already fallen apart due to the march by the time it reached Moscow.
>>25227439You're not white, Miloj.
>>25227425You keep doing this thing where if Tolstoy doesn't share your own deluded account and interpretation of events it means he's actually the deluded one. Interesting.
>>25223786>>25223798This becomes a self-sustaining cycle though if you only respect the idea as far as there is someone who has truly suffered from it.
>>25227519Is that supposed to be a name?
>>25229015Slava dedovschina, comrade.
>>25229017My nipples are pink as fuck.
>>25227466In the week following their rout of the Russians at Borodino? >>25227555It‘s the literal, unambiguous truth that less than 40% of French deaths on that campaign even involved the Russians in proximity. And that percentage mostly consists of guerrilla attacks against disorganized lines, scavengers, and the killing of prisoners who surrendered just to get out of the cold. The claim that France was beaten by anything but the weather is an entirely non-serious proposition.
>>25221632War is not good or bad, it simply is. It's the natural state of life and any quality judgements about it, its methods, or its goals are superimposed.
>Loife is a heccin' WAR!!!No it isn't.
>>25229043The struggle is real. When I have to move my couch...that is literally war...on my very being....
>>25229064Life is a long uphill battle for those not born into fortune. You have to be well off or SEVERELY mentally ill to get proper NEET status. But even if you sre very mentally ill and have govt checks and a family who can support you life is still a struggle unless you are content and able to jerk off in your room till death
>>25229064>Life means your individual lifeExactly the kind of myopic egocentrism I anticipated. Congratulations, you're no better than my mental image of you, and it's not flattering.
