If he were a zoomer today, what would he be doing? Writing gay little Xeets or Substacks? Publishing a cliche-ridden progression fantasy on RoyalRoad? Getting an MFA so he could turn out flaccid litfic no one reads? Or maybe he would write Generic Netflix Show #295732 based on some side character from a movie that made boomers soiface in the 80s.

He wouldn't be alive today because his mom would be chasing Chad on her cell phone until she was childless at 35 and his dad would be a wageslaving incel.

Every now and then I click onto /lit/ to see what 4chan has to say about my interests in books and then immediately get hit by this and 100 other retarded threads.

Honestly I think this is the correct response when the hypothetical is so far removed from its base materials as to render the question meaningless.

What books do you like

There is genuine discussion to be had, you do have to look for it though.
You’re a fool for believing in the capacity of /lit/ (in 2026), and I’m a fool for persisting here

He would be writing the new play about the literary man of letters who had nothing else to contribute to literary discussion than "what would Shakespeare do if he were alive today?" threads. He would take apart the sad and lonely existence of such an individual who clearly is devoid of any thinking.

yeah shakespeare's upbringing today would be so different that maybe he wouldn't be shakespeare anymore
Maybe the question would work if you raised him up in an environment that was half the modern day and half the 1500s. Modern lifestyle but historical education?

Kenneth Clark's Civilisation pointed out to me that one of the radical things about Shakespeare was the bold, rational philosophy unchained from religion (e.g. saying that life is pointless).
I don't think that would be impressive today.

It would be cool if he could replicate the feat of making popslop that also has literary depth.
Though perhaps, his literary genius wouldn't help him nearly as much in the audiovisual media world where you also need to be good at visuals/audio.

Also maybe he would be constrained by our worse oral memory?
