I enjoyed the Snow of Kilimanjaro does anyone have any recommendations for other goated short stories that aren't by Hemingway?

Also is the modern reactionary phenomenon of Zoomers refraining from drinking a preferted cultural attack on the working class stemming from the degeneration of the economy?

Hemingway's descriptions in this story of the working class in Paris who excessively booze after work is acknowledged as objectively damaging to their lives. But is also described romantically and with empathy .

It makes me feel better about the development of my career which I have recently completely failed out of and have to grapple with the fact that I may two be being forced towards a bohemian lifestyle.

I'm a working class zoomer who drinks too much, although I've been sober for the past week.

I think for most of them it's a combination of being too anxious so they worry about doing something stupid and also a real interest in living healthier lives.

Sounds like you'd enjoy Ring Lardner. He was a sports writer who also wrote short stories, and quite a few of them involve clandestine drinking and domestic hardship. Denis Johnson has a famous short story collection centered vaguely on substance issues. I also recommend Flannery O'Connor's "A Good Man Is Hard To Find", and Tennessee Williams's short stories; consider "Desire and the Black Masseur."
If you're American, then you really should read some Washington Irving, at the very least Rip Van Winkle and/or Sleepy Hollow. I could hit you with some more obscure recs but hopefully this steers you well.

the Johnson collection is "Jesus' Son"; if you want just one story, try "Car Crash While Hitchhiking."
If you can find Lardner's "The Love Nest", give that one a shot. Consider also "Harmony" and "There Are Smiles" for different flavors of his work.
There are plenty of good novels from around Hemingway's day that approach addiction, if that interests you- try "The Man With The Golden Arm" (close to Hemingway's style and tone, generally masculine and working-class), or "Under the Volcano" (more literary and challenging) if that excites you.
Enjoy, Anon!

We don't talk like that here.

Really glad you're getting into literature though and I hope it can make you less retarded.
