If I think that having a grand old laff with your m8s is the greatest shit ever, does that make me an Epicurean? I know it's considered a leddit-y thing to take seriously nowadays, but I have never felt closer to some sort of transcendental unity than when I was laughing with a group of people, especially if they were strangers and we were all participating in the (harmless) riot. Everything just dissolves into pure bliss for that brief moment.
I don't know many books that tried to make sense of this whole deal, besides something like Bergson's treatise on laughter, so if you've got any decent recommendations then hit me.

Epicureanism is the default view of this contemporary materialist world

That would be plain old hedonism, which is a less nuanced understanding of what Epicurus talked about. Still, I don't know if what is stated in the op is really all that different.

Epicureanism to me (not op) is more of a way of managing your life.

It is hedonistic in a material sense, and that you can find pleasure on earth. But it's more about finding pleasure in your works and friendships and withdrawing from pointless stressful aspects of society such as politic.

Idk much about epicureanism but from your description I'd say most people who just wanna disconnect from grander elements of life and participating in society in favour of enjoying the simple pleasures of living life with loved ones (which is the majority of apolitical normies) are epicureans

You dont avoid society. Just pointlessly stressful conflict.

It’s about maximizing stable, long-term pleasure by minimizing disturbance like anxiety, fear, and unnecessary desire. The highest state for him is ataraxia (mental tranquility) and aponia (absence of physical pain).

Or braindead cattle, as I like to call them.

Wouldn't it be nice to be a cow raised by a loving farmer? You could eat all the grass you want. You could get your cow-nipples hand-squeezed by him (and his wife and daughter on the weekends).

Normalfags are obssesed with politics althoughbeit

Terminally online people are obsessed with politics. Normalfags don't give too much of a fuck and will content themselves with bitching about prices and thinking that voting for the other team will totally fix things this time.

>I don't know many books that tried to make sense of this whole deal,
Agamben's 'Profanations' for one of those books. It's a concise and comfy read.
>it's considered a leddit-y thing
that's how the law is operating: it demarcates high from low, worthy from not worthy, and in doing so 'sacralizes' certain things, i.e. taking them out of the free use. (Making them 'unfree'.) Like museums or churches (cock-blocking God on some level where the divine is made inaccessible from being approached directly in a playful manner.)

So yeah, I think you are correct in your intuition: leisure and laughter with your bros, like memeing and generating powerful enchanted gamer mana, is super important. Or — 'not really that important' and, precisely because of its worthlessness, it is very dear to God who loves memers and those who loves love and light and willing to be free.

You probably spend as much time on 4chan as the average person spends in twitter. Everyone is attatched to a computer or phone.

The Fool archetype -which is really just code for ''chracteristics of malevolent spirits''- is but another decoy. You should know this by now. Ever heard of Valentin Tomberg' Meditations on the Tarot? You don't want to pay dividends to the tricksters of this world when you're trying to place an emphasis on authenticity, clarity, and truth.
All those dour orthodox priests were right about never cracking a smile ever.

>You should know this by now.
Why is that? I shouldn't. Not now, nor back then. I'd rather un-know, you know? In Agamben's thought, 'to profane' is to return to free use. Btw, Tarot is total decrepit bullshit. Some fucking shitty letters that should be shat upon and shoveled back to the pit of contrition.
>were right about never cracking a smile ever.
That's stupid. I should only believe in a God that would know how to dance.
