Anyone else cursed with the inability to change the image of a character in your head once you initially think of one? Thomas Covenant is Louis Theroux in my mind and I can't do anything about it.also good book, I still don't really like Covenant though, sure he's multilayered but constantly expecting him to snap back rudely at someone who's only being nice to him constantly gets old quick.

>Hey Tommy how's things>LEPER OUTCAST UNCLEAN>Me and the boys were going to head out for some beers, you wanna...>DON'T TOUCH ME AAAAAAAAAAAAH
>>25229896yeah, especially after 300 pages of actual character development, he just regresses
i feel like i have a pretty good imagination but i don't picture distinct faces for characters. i don't really see a movie in my head. it's more like rapidly shuffling through a slideshow of associated imagery.
>>25229872Covenant is the author's self-pitying self-insert. He's the least likable protagonist ever.
Just read DFW's essay on McCain 2000, and I'm not sure whether to picture him as RFK Jr. or Tim Waltz.

>>25229872I hate when they wait to describe a character and then when they do it undermines my image of them.
