>>25232260If you don't have a similarly sized regret in your life can you really claim to have lived at all?
>woah why doesn’t everyone think and act like me,they are be dumbSheit mayne

>>25232633the seppos will be learning all about 1984 from the inside, quite soon. they already have the internment camps.
>>25232260Orwell was a man entirely guided by self-hatred, because he was an anarchist who kept getting mogged by despots.
>>25232633Bro you better not fear the armed lardass bc they are armed to the teeth and just waiting for a chance to assert dominance they’ve craved their whole lives. These people will fight guerilla warfare and kill without hesitation when the time comes. They scare the shit out of me. Real life isn’t a playground basketball game where the cool kids will win.
>>25233985Random thought: has there ever been a really fat serial killer? Can't think of one offhand.
>>25232633Fatasses pedopublicans will die within a month of a civil war because the lardasses won’t be able to use their cpap machines nor have access to furosemide

>>25233864I think there's certainly some truth in this.Orwell attended a tryhard public school and just about scrambled into the Engish middle-class establishment, but on a low rung. He was some sort of functionary in Burma and (as the elephant anecdote shows) didn't have sufficent strength of character to do his job properly. Then he fought in the Spanish Civil War and a) saw his side get beat and b) saw that his side were in no way morally superior to the other side. Then he came home and wrote essays e.g. about how much tougher coal miners were than him. Then he wrote a novel about a guy who tries to be a poet and fails. Then he wrote a novel about a guy who tries to rebel against a totalitarian government and fails.I think he had the resentment and bitterness of a man who feels or imagines himself weak. People like that are capable of the worst cruelty.
>>25234104I did think of him but he was just a bit tubby, not really obese (certainly not by modern USA standards).
>>25234109Quite the opposite. It's in fact his knowledge of his own weakness, and his complete lack of self-esteem, that kept him from agreeing with the cruel. He fundamentally saw himself, even when he was objectively in a powerful position, as a weak, inferior sort of man. That's why he was an anarchist. He always identified with people who were weak, and detested bullies. He had a disgust for strong people who exploited the weak. Not just fear, disgust.
