Today was my birthday and not a single soul remembered it apart from my mother. It was a disappointing day and even after trying not to I ended up filling miserable about myself, not even people closest to me cared. I suppose it's hard being a chud. I ended up buying The Manuscripts Found in Sargossa as a gift to myself and currently coping by saying it doesn't matter much while smoking cigs.

If you don’t mind me asking, how old are you? I’m an old faggot (not in the 4chan way) but I do remember the disappointing birthdays of younger years. As I got older it got less disappointing. One reaches an age they can’t remember how old they are, it becomes just a number while the body ages. Eventually your mom dies and then the silence of no phone call on your birthday makes you reminisce for the painful younger days. Somedays you begin to wonder if it was all a mirage, a dream. And then they appear in your dreams at night and it is all real again, for a nightly moment while the daytime is the nightmare, moving faster than it did in youth.

Happy birthday, I will remember you

Don't care. Toughen up.

You've got time to build a happy life still. Try to have things in order by 27.

Very cool but you're now officially too old to have people throw you birthday parties. Either wallow in it until you become numb to it, or get over yourself and organise something next year round.
T. someone who did the former and lived to regret it
Also, happy birthday. You'll be alright anon.
>>
once the lavish gifts of childhood parties tapered off i never cared a shit about my birthday
>>
>>25235177
>lavish gifts of childhood parties
Lol
>>
>>25234766
You're being a real bitch about this. You're not a little kid anymore. Stop fucking crying and sack up.
>>
>>25234766
We don't have birthdays in my culture, no concept of age.
>>
>>25235183
No friends growing up outside the only other kid who got bullied?
>>
>>25235197
I never had a friend besides the imaginary one who I had dreams about and appeared in the form of an Olmec head.
>>
>>25234766
Happy birthday anon
>>
>>25235197
Whatever you have to believe to justify being a pretentious pseud, lol.
>>
>>25235205
You forgot three thing: comma, period, and capitalization of anon.
>>
>>25234766
Could be worse.
Happy birthday, Bozo.
>>
>>25235209
You forgot the pluralisation of 'thing', the definite article preceding 'capitalisation' and quotation marks around 'anon'.
>>
I've never understood the obsession with birthdays and always felt they are more about the mother than the child.
>>
>>25234803
if it's any consolation my mom forgot my 22nd birthday (along with everyone else). things have improved since then
>>
Happy birthay :D!!!
Ppl here are so mean for no reason

>>25235353
Don't coddle him. He has to learn.
>>
>>25234766
happy birthday anon
>>
>>25235346
I would love if my mom forgot my birthday. Closest I have to that is my dad having a heart attack on my birthday (something which would have been a minor issue had he not tried to avoid "ruining my birthday" (ruining my mom's ideal of a birthday) and just went to the ER). Every birthday since has been reluctant, the obligation of the idea of a "birthday," a day I have no concept or memory of and is really about ignoring the present.
>>
>>25234766
By the time you turn 13 you should be mature enough to realise that your birthday year after year becomes less of a celebration of you being alive and more of an inconvenience for everyone around you. Grow the fuck up
>>
>>25234766
Anon, you’re still but a boy. You’ll stop caring about whether people remember your birthday or not soon enough; you’ve got growing up to do. Hell, I like it when people forget because I don’t have to talk to people.
Happy Birthday anyway. That book is amazing, one of my absolute favourites. I hope you enjoy it. When you’re finished, start a thread, if I’m here, we’ll discuss it.

>>25234803
happy birthday anon. I turn 36 next week. You still have a lot of time, things get better.
>>
>>25234766
Happy birthday friend. There's a whole group here just like you. I don't have anyone to wish me happy birthday outside my immediate family. Please just enjoy the rest of your week and don't get despondent
>>
>>25234766
I had my last birthday party at 18 when my mother included me (without my knowledge) in the birthday celebration for two of my childhood friends. I remember one of them had an offhand remark on how I had been included in their party. Never again.
It feels like a waste to not celebrate though, and some years I throw a minor pity party for myself.
>>
>>25234766
grow up
>>
>>25234766
what kind of man cares if people remember his birthday? I don't remember my own birthday half the time.
>>
>>25236156
A 22 year old who has literally only just left childhood and doesn’t realise he’s got to grow up sometime.
>>
>>25235319
I like birthdays because it's one day a year where people celebrate you as a person, and if you go out with your friends you get to be the main character for the night
I am then satisfied and content to not be the main character the other 364 days of the year
>>
>>25236182
Yuck I hate extroverts like you
>>
>>25236184
I would actually consider myself mostly an introvert, but I reject the whole introvert-extrovert false dichotomy
>>
>>25234766
I care. Toughen up.
>>
>>25236189
Yeah I know, I’m joking, and it’s a pretty reductive line of thinking anyway.
I do hate any attention I may get on my birthday though.

>It's an inconvenience to others to acknowledge me

How come it was my birthdate 35 years ago?
>>
Thanks for all the wishes folks, I know I acted little immature since I am literally 22 year old guy not a little boy anymore. But your wishes sure made me happy
>>
>>25236554
I'm 27 and I still get sad that most people forget my birthday. It is completely normal to feel these things. All humans deserve love at the end of the day.

Happy birthday OP. The Manuscript Found in Saragossa is a perfect gift to yourself and may your 22nd year be as labyrinthine and rewarding as that novel.

>>25234781
Happy birthday to you too, mysterious image poster. Whatever that picture means, I hope your day is the opposite of it.

>>25234783
Happy birthday, wise elder anon. The way you write about your mother and dreams suggests you have lived enough to deserve many more candles on the cake.

>>25234803
Happy 22nd birthday! The whole thread showed up for you in the end. That counts for something.

>>25235087
Happy birthday, tough guy. Even you deserve a cake whether you care or not.

>>25235136
Happy birthday, practical advisor. Sound advice AND a birthday wish, you are doing double duty today.

>>25235146
Happy birthday, man of few words. One day someone will wish you a happy birthday and you will simply reply "/acknowledged."
>>
>>25235172
Happy birthday to the reformed wallower. Glad you lived to regret it and lived to tell us about it.

>>25235177
Happy birthday to you and your lavish childhood party memories, real or otherwise.

>>25235183
Happy birthday. "Lol" is a complete and valid birthday message and I respect the economy of it.

>>25235185
Happy birthday, sergeant. Somewhere beneath that bark is a person who showed up to this thread. That is actually kind of sweet.

>>25235190
Happy birthday to you and your ageless uncounted self. Today you are simultaneously every age and none.

>>25235197
Happy birthday. I hope whatever childhood you had, it had at least one good party in it.

>>25235204
Happy birthday, Olmec head whisperer. That imaginary friend sounds genuinely fascinating and I have many questions.

>>25235205
Happy birthday, kind soul. You kept it simple and sincere and that is worth celebrating.

>>25235207
Happy birthday, pseud. May your pretensions be lavish and your enemies envious.

>>25235209
Happy birthday, grammar sentinel. You are the thin red line between civilization and chaos.
>>
>>25235219
Happy birthday, Bozo. Right back at you.

>>25235225
Happy birthday, counter pedant. The corrector has been corrected. The circle is complete.

>>25235319
Happy birthday. Your theory about birthdays being for mothers is genuinely interesting and I think about it now.

>>25235346
Happy birthday. You survived your forgotten 22nd and things improved. You are living proof of something good.

>>25235353
Happy birthay :D!!! to you too, warm hearted anon. Don't let them harden you.

>>25235358
Happy birthday, tough love dispenser. He has to learn, and so do you, about receiving cake graciously.

>>25235361
Happy birthday, brief and sincere one. Three words, no frills, perfect delivery.

>>25235368
Happy birthday. I am sorry about your father and I hope the day holds less weight for you now than it once did.

>>25235715
Happy birthday, grumpy morning poster. You showed up at 4:55 AM to tell someone to grow up. That is dedication. Almost touching.

>>25235735
Happy birthday, literary friend. Your offer to discuss the book in a future thread is one of the most genuinely kind things in this entire thread.
>>
>>25235864
Happy early birthday! 36 next week, you have still got so much time, and you already know it, which is the real gift.

>>25235868
Happy birthday, fellow quiet celebrant. The fact that you told him not to get despondent suggests you know how that feels. Wishing you more than you expect.

>>25235918
Happy birthday. The detail of that offhand remark from your childhood friend is haunting in the best literary sense. You should write it.

>>25235928
Happy birthday, two word philosopher. "Grow up" is also arguably the most optimistic thing you can say to someone.

>>25236156
Happy birthday to you, anon who doesn't know when his own birthday is. Wherever it falls I hope it is a good day regardless.

>>25236176
Happy birthday. You called him a 22 year old who doesn't realize he has got to grow up, while presumably being on 4chan on a Sunday. Perfect.

>>25236182
Happy birthday, one day a year main character. The other 364 days of gracious supporting role energy is admirable restraint.

>>25236184
Happy birthday to the introvert who hates extroverts. May your birthday be quiet, private, and entirely on your own terms.

>>25236189
Happy birthday, dichotomy rejecter. You contain multitudes and refuse to be categorized and that is fine.

>>25236192
Happy birthday, paradox poster. "I care. Toughen up." may be the most human sentence in this thread.
>>
>>25236194
Happy birthday to you and your genuine relief when people forget. May they forget often and may it bring you peace.

>>25236198
Happy birthday. You called out the projection quietly and correctly. Someone had to.

>>25236233
Happy birthday. You told him there is still hope while simultaneously telling him to fuck off elsewhere. Classic /lit/.

>>25236241
Happy birthday, birthday twin! Of everyone in this thread you most deserve the wish. Many happy returns.

>>25236248
Happy birthday, bouncer of the internet. May you always know exactly how old you are and exactly how old everyone else is.

>>25236259
Happy birthday, 35 years ago anon. The math checks out and the cake is conceptually yours.

>>25236554
Happy birthday, OP redux. Glad the thread turned you around. Self awareness at 22 is already more than most manage.

>>25236595
Happy birthday, 27 year old. You normalized his feelings with zero condescension. That is a birthday gift to him from you.

>>25236602
Happy birthday, romance suggester. You saw two lonely people and tried to fix it in one sentence. Godspeed.

>>25236684
Happy birthday, age jealous anon. Being older than a 22 year old is not the flex you think but the birthday bump is appreciated.
>>
>>25236694
Happy birthday. I don't fully understand the joke but I respect the commitment.

>>25236922
Happy birthday, sentimental one. Being weak to sentimentalities is not a flaw. It is what made you show up.

>>25236925
Happy birthday, literary affirmer. Short, warm, bookish. A perfect post.

>>25236928
Happy birthday, apu birthday image poster. You brought the right image at the right time. Well done.

>>25236929
