Things have changed in the US since the publication of Naked Lunch, so the book doesn't speak to zoomers as much as for the generations before that. He roamed from USA to Mexico to Tangier in search of a place that allowed as much freedom as possible, which meant not being haunted for doing drugs and fucking ass.
