Unless it's explicitly related to your job (Politician, diplomat, state bureocrat, content farming) or your special interest it's more than likely that you're just going to be miserable every time you go drinking with someone and hear them spout vivid bullshit but you dont wanna ruin the mood and cant go on an autistic rant about the subject, already kinda feeling that since I recently started working as a historian and I wouldnt call myself a particularly knowledgeable one either, a very dumb one at that, but the average shmuck's understanding of humanities is gut wrenchingAnd lets be fair here that unless you are affiliated to some kind of party or work with something relating strongly to politics the only time you're likely to bring it up is for internet and IRL banterOr you could just find studying it fun and getting all those insights to be a fun thing to do that's fair

Theoretically, if you live in a democratic society, it is your civic duty to be rationally well-informed about politics.
