Only as a NEET can you spend thousands of hours reading books and cultivate a rich inner life.
>>25238886If you're PT you can also achieve it if you have the drive and you're willing to commit.
I'm a NEET and the total opposite of that
The narrator is employed
>>25238886Passoa disagreed.
>>25238886In the past NEETs didn't really exist in the way they can now.People like Pessoa and Kafka were average worker drones who carried on double lives in writing. That was certainly a small type in the past. But ironically I think now that can no longer exist as it was.
>>25238886NEETs are modern day aristocrats
>>25238886youve reminded me how blessed i am to be a neet, going to do some more reading
Lots of people spend thousands of hours watching AI slop on YouTube, scrolling through people doing silly dances on TikTok or paying video of gaymen. You don't need to be a neet to have time to read. Just find some time...
>>25238968I've come to start to believe that great art is only possible when you live in a society where labour is cheap. No young bachelor ever had to wash his own clothes, cook his own meals or "do things around the house," he had time to create or to seek out inspiration.
>>25238972No because aristocrats are patrons
>>25238982exactly, he had time to be bored as fuck.
>>25238982that's why communist regimes can't produce great writers. you either love literature or support communism
>>25238981Yeah, people have the time, they choose to apply it elsewhere
>>25238993This is why we need way more immigrants
>>25238982The welfare state is also to blame for this. Used to be you could practically own a little old lady to do all that, just by giving her food and shelter. Now you still have to pay for them of course, but they do fuck all in return. We need economist to realise the untapped productivity gains of immiserating 60 to 80 year olds into ironing our shirts and starching our collars again.
>>25238886hop off the internet every once in a while lil vro
>>25238886This is true but it's only one side of the story. The thoughtful and creative life is no longer possible because it's no longer possible to be bored. Work eats all your time but even more voracious is the selection of entertainments modern man has available to him at all times. Technology has made us into a fundamentally different kind of human being from the one Pessoa was in his time. We are all mind-numbed addicts now. There is no way for us to contemplate, to be alone with ourselves. It's just too easy to pull out the smartphone whenever we feel the slightest discomfort. As a result modern man is not really human anymore, more like a distracted and catatonic human in potentia. And it doesn't even matter if you personally escape, become rich, renounce technology, or whatever. Not enough people will follow you; you will be alone; nobody will see the value in what you're doing. You won't be able to revive culture on your own.
>>25239073AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
>>25239073slop for the masses; kino for the gentlemen who are able to exercise self-control
>>25238993There were heaps of great Soviet writers though. I'd rather read Gorky than any modern Western sloppa about whites being evil.
>>25239022>finite amount of bullshit jobs>men and women compete for finite jobs>return women to the home by marriage>removes 50% of labor competition>men can more easily find jobs>men earn more at their jobsit really is that easy
>>25238968They worked 3 hours a day in a shop owner by their family that was kn the ground level bellow their apartment. Not in any way the same thing like wage cucking today.
>>25239073i deleted my instagram and twitter and i got so frustrated and bored that i started day reading again... it's extraordinary how much of time sink that shit is. without even really realising it. when i first quit i would habitually pick up my phone and start thumbing through the weather app or my notes or whatever, trying to get a hit. any spare moment can be sucked up reading an endless torrent of slop on x dot cum the everything app. we used to have an app for everything now we just have innumerable everything apps. here is fine because the feed is finite and the pace is slow.
>>25238886Anon you should also spend some time cultivating a rich outer life or else you'll end up a neurotic left-brained logocentric cuck who can't navigate his body through the material world for shit.
itt: anons use a book they never read to validate their poor choices in life.
>>25239464How is that any different from any other thread?
>>25238886hey i just realized that guy is headless
>>25238982Counterpoint: Modern day South Asia and China.
>>25238886>and cultivate a rich inner life.that's probably a good thing. i mean it's not like their outer life is much to boast about
>>25238886What's happening on that photo?
>>25239426small family businesses used to be the norm. You could be a semi-NEET writer like Pessoa but your grandparents were tricked into thinking climbing a corporate ladder is what real men do.
