Funny how Shakespeare and Chaucer were feminists and believed in gender equality but Milton was totally sexist.
>>25239477You're right OP that is funny. What an astute and clever observer you are. You add so much to the board and every post of yours is a blessing, even balm-like to tired anond the world over I dare say. Thank you for the morning chuckle, you really made my day
>>25239477what does it mean to be a "feminist" in the 16th century? they thought you shouldnt beat your wife to a bloody pulp?
>>25239491You should btw
>>25239491>they thought you shouldnt beat your wife to a bloody pulpSounds kinda woke and cucked, desu
>>25239491What the other blokes said… Stella Artois didn’t exist then though… so it probably required a little more effort.
>>25239477Milton is the most brilliant writer I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading and his treatment of the vacuously vain Eve is magnificent and an accurate portrayal of a realistic woman. Only fitting that the mother of all would be the epitome of woman’s retardation, recalcitrance and vanity
>>25239477Milton also happens to be the worst writer of them. Coincidence?
>>25240022I think you meant “best” but I’ll forgive that little typo.
>>25240026No, I meant worst.
>>25239477Little bro conveniently forgetting Shakespeare wrote The Taming of the Shrew
>>25241632You should take your own life haha
>>25241632How is Taming of the Shrew sexist?
>>25241627Misspelled best again! What are you like, anon?!
>>25239477>Shakespeare and Chaucer were feminists and believed in gender equalityabsolute bullshit lol
>>25239477Women… they make monsters of men
>>25241663>'My lige lady, generally,' quod he,>'Wommen desyren to have sovereyntee>As wel over hir housbond as hir love,>And for to been in maistrie him above;>This is your moste desyr, thogh ye me kille,>Doth as yow list, I am heer at your wille.'>In al the court ne was ther wyf ne mayde,>Ne widwe, that contraried that he sayde,>But seyden, 'he was worthy han his lyf.'
Men had almost no rights in England so gender equality isn't saying much because women basically had no rights. Even Muslims gave women their property rights and distinct legal personhood but in Europe they lost both of those upon marriage
>>25241825Divorce prevention scheme
>>25239477>Shakespeare was a feministHis will says otherwise
>>25241831>muh second best bedWhat's the problem?
>>25241867you're retarded
>>25240022>>25240026Objectively speaking, Milton was about halfway below Shakespeare, but much higher than Chaucer.
>>25244711I’d put Milton next to Shakespeare if only for Paradise Lost, though that’s just my take. Shakespeare however, in general, is undeniably above both Chaucer and Milton.
