Why do women only read garbage? Look, I understand it's not realistic to expect the average person to dive into the works of Gaddis, Powys, Derrida or McPhee, but it's just so ridiculous how these female YouTubers will exclusively read the bottom of the barrel: modern-day genre fiction which specifically caters to them.

I do kind of envy them for being able to grab any junk off a shelf and enjoy it
>>
If your book has a shit cover, it deserves to be ignored. Stop making boring shitty covers.

Women are not serious adults.

I would take her to dinner at a nice restaurant.

It’s true that thy do enjoy the slop they read, but I’ve also seen instances of them thinking they’re superior and intellectual because they engage in the act of reading; even if it is slop, it makes no difference to them. So I feel there’s an air of pretentiousness in their hobby. It’s similar to how you see video game fans make the argument for their favourite game actually being a complex, labyrinthine masterpiece worthy of the level of evaluation given to supreme works of art. But I suppose in their case it’s the sort of the opposite, because video games are inherently treated like low brow entertainment by society, so they have to justify their enjoyment as adults with some kind of overblown analysis, whereas with the women who read books like this, the justification is the book itself, and the content therein is probably more bereft of depth than the video games revered by the aforementioned nerds who try to elevate them.
Either way, they’re all overgrown children ignorant of their immaturity.

Checked.
But idk anon, she’s kinda plain. And wouldn’t you get bored? I mean, if she talks about what she likes to read and she just talks about what you can see in the OP pic how long do you think you’ll be able to last before leaving? No pussy is worth all that yapping on about the latest billionaire werewolf rapist slop

>female manchild-core

It is socially acceptable within their circles of other women and tiktok/booktube has turned reading into another means for consumerism. This type of woman is equivalent to men who only read genreslop, pop science and shitty self help (the majority). There exists other groups of women who are more pretentious and read classics, poetry and 'serious' contemporary fiction.

Casanova said preference for women is like literature. The amateur just judges by what a woman reveals to the world in form, mainly her face which is cloaked in cosmetics. The more learned man first tries evaluates what will be underneath the makeup and clothing. And the highly erudite is particular about edition, which Casanova likens to a woman's feet

Oh I know but when I buy history books the cover tends to be a major selling point. See Exhibit A.

>>25243325
Yeah, I've seen the latest shelf thread. You people aren't that different from women, to be perfectly honest.

Everything Derrida writes is garbage pseudo-intellectual "philosophy" masquerading as something deep and profound, what he writes is profoundly vague and badly defined. If you think Derrida is deep and profound it's because you've convinced yourself that there must be something deep and profound there, not that there actually is any depth there. Unfortunately a lot of continental philosophers fall into this category. I would rather a woman read some kind of smut while imagining getting fucked by a werewolf than to read a single book or text by Derrida, there's infinitely more value in that than to read Derrida.
>>
have you guys stopped posting about that blonde tradbooktuber that slowly debauched herself? i'm just here to assist and remind you
>>
>>25243225
Good post, I’ve noticed this too
>meet woman who is proud of reading
>it’s all YA slop books and fanfics/smut
Baffling. There’s a male form of it too, the type that reads modern assembly-line scifi and fantasy trash. I suppose they’re the modern version of boomer pulp book readers, yet they have more overblown egos.
>>
>>25243505
you made that last part up

Women>>25243180
are garbage.
>>
>>25243512
The part about their egos? Yea it’s my opinion so of course I made it up lmao. That doesn’t change the fact that they read slop though.

I see Deleuze get a pass here even though he’s arguably worse.

D&G, yes, Deleuze by himself, no

Its because of Justin Murphy's astroturfing. Him and I also have the same first name.

Hi Justin :)
>>
>>25243225
I understand you completely. My cousin’s gf reads a shit ton of books a year and she’s a pretty smartass person all around, and yet she literally exclusively reads booktok slop kek I almost cannot fathom how someone could think that that is an intellectual pursuit but she’s a woman so it does make sense.

>>25243505
Hey. Don’t lump the based fantasy enjoyers into that shit. It’s comfy, fun and sometimes can be even a bit literary if you read pre-1900s fantasy. We also know that what we’re reading is pulpy shit but at least it attempts to have SOME depth.

I’m not that anon, I don’t speak like a nigger here, just defending his fetish for asses and shit is all.

Enigma are so good they ruined a lot of other music for me
>>

Mainstream media also absolutely loves to praise shit like "BookTok" without any criticism whatsoever.
>>
>>25243225
When I was a small child, I was really proud of my ability to read books in one sitting. Never mind that the books were meant for kids and therefore very short. Maybe running through a mountain of slop makes women feel like voracious readers
>>
>>25246796
Perhaps, and same here, but remember, you were a small child.
