What was his deal with Milton?
Surely someone understands Blake
>>25244321Great poem but damn if Blake didn’t fellate the old blind bat. Which is fine, he’s my favourite writer too.
>>25244321I don't get it, Milton was a chud Puritan while Blake was a liberal pantheist.
Milton was the greatest English language poet of all time, to the extent that Blake decided anything so beautiful must be divine. So Blake melded it with his own personal hedonistic religious philosophy to recast Milton as an unwitting prophet of Orc.

>>25247368Well, no, he’s brilliant actually I’m just comparing him to Milton
>>25247349>the greatest English language poet of all timeThat would be Wordsworth or Coleridge.
>>25247377it wouldn’t be but they’re still great.
I don't understand how Blake can portray Paolo and Francesca da Rimini in a positive light while also bemoaning the corrosive social affects of the Industrial Revolution in the rest of his watercolors of Inferno. According to him, it's bad that children are being sent to work in factories, but it's okay to commit adultery.
schizo infightingkino
>>25247427>According to him, it's bad that children are being sent to work in factories, but it's okay to commit adultery. And he's completely right
>>25247349I didn't even realize Milton was Orc.In fact I thought Orc was bad and Milton someone good. Blake was hard at times. I'm still unsure if Satan and Urizen are the same much less who all the other characters are
