Was Marx right about Anglo conservatism?>England’s High Church would sooner forgive someone for attacking thirty-eight of its thirty-nine articles of faith than for attempting to take away 1/39 of its cash income. These days even atheism is a culpa levis compared with a critique of traditional property relations.
>>25245775The same could be said for any organization.Organizations can change rules, goals, ideology, members, leadership, nearly anything and everything and still survive in some form.Removing their funding will kill nearly all organizations (though I cannot off the top of my head think of any that could survive lack of funds).
>>25245787He didn't say remove all their funding
>>25245790Once a man has access to your coffers, you think he will limit himself to a single coin?1/39th quickly becomes 2/39ths so on and so forth.Besides, it is quite difficult to manage the expenses of a large organization, many of them are not flush with cash in the long term that they can afford to reduce operating income without feeling pressure.Furthermore, attacking thirty-eight articles is somewhat vague, whereas when you are going through the books and see shortfalls amounting to millions, you can put an exact number on it and reckon it with what it could have purchased.
>>25245796God and Jesus and salvation and damnation are "somewhat vague" for a Church?
>>25245812Of course they are, that's why there are so many Churches.
>>25245819The point of each church is to clarify and remove the vagueness in its own way, otherwise they needn't exist
>>25245828>they needn't existIn this we certainly agree.
>>25245775Stop spamming this garbage
>>25245836But we are talking from the perspective of a particular church. Do you have theory if mind?
>>25245842I'm not "spamming" it, read a book and calm down
>>25245852Really? Daily threads on the same fucking book isn't "spamming"?
>>25245849I'm sure the founders of each particular church had different reasons for founding them, and those were not always the reasons they stated. It would be incorrect to say that they aimed to "clarify" as many of them founded churches which are not any clearer than the ones they detached from. Otherwise one might track the development of churches in terms of clarity, with each one being more clear than the last, but that isn't the case.
