Uninteresting read. Too much subjectivism (doesn't use the third person) and too little external conflict. I think the whole inner struggle that he writes about in his autobiography is just a ploy that's meant to mask the lack of substance in his book. I can talk about this with someone who read him.
There's also the highly narcissistic aspect of his inner musings. I'll steal the reply that it's typical for a teenager or 21 yr old to be narcissistic and say I know but that doesn't make one a good author when he deliberately paints himself as a womanizer,heavy alcohol drinker and low scale manipulator.

There's no true love in the book "the novel of an adolescent with myopia" or "maytrei" it's either absent or a perversion of love fueled by class struggle.
