When I was a kid, I was constantly reading for fun. In elementary I started with comic books and diary of a wimpy kid. And when I was 10 I was reading full novels for fun. Shit like Tom Sawyer just for fun.But now I can't read anything anymore. My brain is too fried. Manga on my pc still works, but I read rarely. And the last time I read a real book without pictures was around 10 years ago.I'm 24 now and since video games don't give me much enjoyment anymore, I want to start reading again.
>>25247733There are no secrets here1) Start small. If books are still too much then go ahead and keep reading manga. The whole point is just getting a habit of reading consistently. Read before sleeping (it's always recommended to not stare at screens at least 30m/1h before going to sleep), read while shitting, read while having breakfast, read while commuting, read between sets at the gym (unironically). Just carry a book with you everywhere or have a book always visible near the "hot spots" in your house where you spend the most of the time. It's not "read for X minutes" or "read for X minutes", it's just "read for as long as you want".2) Read something interesting. Follow pre-made lists or don't, just pick a book and see if it grabs you and if doesn't then drop it and move on. Surely you have some topics you find interesting, pick a book that is related to them. Are you into video games? Pick a up a book on game design analysis or the history or some genre.3) The more you read the better you will become at it. Comprehension, speed, all that will improve as you read more which will make it even more enjoyable.4) Consider joining a book club or something, so you at least have some incentive to read your books.5) Ultimately you don't need to read if you don't find it appealing. Maybe the reason why you are unable to read is also the reason why you can't enjoy video games, there's some other underlying issue that you are probably ignoring (IRL problems? sense of guilt because you let others dictate what to do with your life?) so figure that out first. The most important part is reading because you enjoy it. You don't need to force yourself to read classics because that's what expected from an adult man. Just read whatever you want, or don't, it really doesn't matter.
