>Professor Tolkien
Keep in mind tolkien was an accomplished professor with a wife but OP is a virgin who lives with his mom.
>>25248091For some reason whenever I think of Tolkien I picture Louis Althusser in my head
>>25248103The fact Tolkien is a renowned and successful author, a respected professor of history and poetry, and had a stable marriage and children in addition to his hobby, which was inventing the languages and history of his fictional setting, should be an inspiration to all of us autists. Why do so many try to tear him down just to make themselves look bigger and more intelligent?
>>25249086These troll cunts have given up on life and successs makes them angry abd resentfulThough OP might even like tolkien and is trying to generate discussion lol
>>25248103>>25249086
Professor Sanderson!
>>25249196>>25249216Truly, an intellectual. I kneel.
>>25249196>>25249216>>25248091>so triggered by FPBP he had to cry and make another thread
What's up with random hate on Tolkien I've seen it rise up noticeably in recent months
>>25249297>>25249086Is just some loser bot trolling, nothing special.
>>25249297Tolkien troll threads are a board staple althoughbeit.
>>25249297pendulum swinging from people being exhausted with performative christians who made tolkien a banner for racism paneuropism and paganism somehow
>>25249323>performative christians who made tolkien a banner for racism paneuropism and paganism somehowActual christians love their fellow man as jesus instructed.
>>25249323That stuff is so weird. People really miss the point not only how Britain focused he was but how England focused Tolkien writing was. Its not a mythology for Europe or the white man. Its not even for Britain necessarily. Literally just England.
>>25249323/pol/tards bring their /pol/tard squabbles to /lit/ where this rarely ever occurred.
>>25249086Its the exact opposite, its about lotr cultists and their weird cult of personality around Tolkien. Normal people dont add honorifics or titles before peoples/authors names outside of a formal setting. For example, nobody ever refers to C.S. Lewis as "Professor Lewis". Its the same for his war service, lotr cultist exaggerate it, acting like he was some front line badass who witnessed the "horrors of war" storming trenches, when in reality he was a communications officer nerd behind the frontlines and was shipped back to England after just four months. Its lotr cultists who abuse Tolkiens professional accomplishments (which they dont give a fuck about) to make themselves look bigger and more intelligent, either because they are insecure about lotrs reputation as "not real literature", want to make their manchild fantasy hobby look more reputable (even though Tolkien wasnt even that influential on modern fantasy outside of conceptualizing Elves and Dwarves) or more nefarious motivations like trying to subvert his works, referencing Tolkiens academic career to bolster their own credibility.tl;dr if you say "Professor Tolkien" instead of "Tolkien" you are a massive fag. You can say that if you are a philologist referencing his lectures on Beowulf, not when talking about his childrens bedtime stories he turned into a novel series lmao
>>25249416Never in my life heard someone say "professor tolkien" so this must be a continuation of an argument between terminally onlines or strawman bait.
>>25249416He was in the front lines, he was communicating from front line to the HQ. He got trench fever and trench foot from the front line trenches, that's why he had to go back to England. Also those days he was there were some of the worst you could experience in the history of warfare.

>>25248103keep in mind John Senior begat (besides Christopher) John Junior, who was a nonce that entered the priesthood and then was a nonce to the little boys in his flock
>>25249425"Prof. T." was what Michael More Cock called him. I'm guessing that it's mostly to piss off More Cock that Tollers' fans use the honorific.
>>25249449So true sister. Thank you for your service Professor Tolkien.
>>25249416100% agree. Also:>You can say that if you are a philologist referencing his lectures on Beowulf, not when talking about his childrens bedtime stories he turned into a novel series lmaoI always felt that his academic/scholar works were far, far better than his novels about Middle Earth. His essays and literary criticisms about Beowulf and On Fairy-Stories are incredible to read, and gives good insight into folklore, mythology, and interpretation when it comes to the poetry written in the ancient world. His works on Middle Earth on the other hand I always felt were more mediocre, and not really worth remembering him for.
>>25249086They're women and/or trannies mostly
>>25250620As a transgirl who loves Tolkien, you couldn't be any further from the truth. Most of the people hating on him are incel chuds.
>>25249297Backlash against the tradlarping fad that's been going on the past few years. Converts to Catholicm and Orthodoxy are twice as annoying and arrogant as New Atheists ever were.
>>25249086Because his fanboys are real faggots about it.
>>25248103This is always kind of a silly point to make with authors from an age where that more or less happened automatically unless you were so dysfunctionally imbecilic that you had to be kept away somewhere. Moreover large parts of his works are racemixing metaphors based on the fact that his wife was Protestant so read into that what you will about where he‘d be today.
