If I'm falling for another meme book, I'm going to be very upset. I swear to god.
>>25249162>reading dimwit self-published slop
>>25249175I've read 2/3 of the meme trilogy, I've earned a break.
>>25249178Understandable. Enjoy then.
>>25249162Have you read Amygdalatropolis? I was recommended it, but haven't bothered with it yet.>>25249175It's not self-published, the publisher is Apocalypse Party (an edgy indie publisher, but still).
>>25249281>indie publisherIt’s literally amazon/lulu POD slop. It’s glorified self-publishing
>>25249285Then call it "print-on-demand" rather than "self-published."I agree there's a difference between a publisher willing to print and mail out X copies and one using print-on-demand, but there being a vetting process is the primary thing that distinguishes either from self-publishing to me. Someone has, in this case, agreed they like the book enough to at least stamp their company's name on it.How much risk a publisher actually takes on and effort they put in is an indication of their recommdation for a book. Yeah, PoD is anti-risk. But Negative Space got a lot of reviews and press in its first year, and I'd guess that was in part because of the publisher, and they seem to have a relatively focused scope of works they'll accept, so I don't think it's just a vanity press.
>>25249162Solid book. Felt as though the story was building up towards something big but the last quarter of the book is rather deflated. Still recommend it though, as someone who grew up in a small town full of addicts and failures where it felt like everyone is doomed to perpetual poverty and personal tragedy.
>>25249162is picrel any good? first heard about it on here, don't know if he was shilling or not. I've seen it talked about elsewhere besides here so it doesn't seem like a meme book
>>25249162I'm almost done with it. It's pretty good. Not very plot driven, but the concept is interesting and I like cosmic horror.
