What is this? Is it kino?

The Hebrew letter hints that it’s not kino, quite the opposite.

I loved this book immensely. It's one of my favorites. You should definitely read it. It's a lot of fun, especially if you like wordplay.

Kabbalistic fanfiction in the best possible way

I love the idea of unappreciated modern indie books.

I read this and I liked it, people call it “ratfic” and I think that’s a fair label. It was written as a web serial and it shows, a lot of it has aged obnoxiously (for example, since it was written in 2015/2016, there’s a lot of focus on “omfg can you believe this Trump guy”) so it could stand to be edited down. I’d start with some of Scott Alexander’s essays and short stories and if you like them, then read it, but if not I’d skip it.

Decent fantasy novel but it would be hard to read today knowing that was born from the brain of an e/acc grifter and that the plot is designed to propagandize it

>e/acc
No this was written by a an AI safetyist, which is a totally different tribe with different beliefs. e/acc's want AI progress to speed up and safetyists want it to slow down. Though I don't think anything in the story is a metaphor for AI.

if these guys are so smart why do they care so much about chatbots
>>

It’s very Jewish
It was better when the bad guy was named Malia Ngo though
>>25251638
He’s not e/acc
He wants a slowdown if anything

>It was better when the bad guy was named Malia Ngo though
Interesting. I had no idea he changed this. I only ever read the physical book. Why was it changed?
>>
>>25252019
he didn't just change the name, he rewrote the whole character and added some detail. the new name is "asher bentham", which is obviously equally significant but in totally different ways
>>

Yeah Asher Bentham was the one I read. Is Malia Ngo named after Malia Obama? Does the Ngo come from Non-governmental-organization and possibly Ngo Dinh Diem?
>>

>Is Malia Ngo named after Malia Obama?
yes, there's a joke about the name in the obama interlude. i don't remember if that's in the print version.

>He tried to prove he was a family man by showing off his daugher Malia, then categorically refused to answer questions about what kind of person would name their firstborn after the abstract concept of evil.

>Does the Ngo come from Non-governmental-organization
that was my reading, uncertain about the other possibility.
