How would you rank his stories?
I only read about 8 or 9 and i only liked the dreamwalker one.
At The Mountains of Madness is the only one with any juice, the rest are cockteasing bullshit.
>top tier:The Haunter of the Dark The Shadow Over Innsmouth>great tier:The Dunwich HorrorWhisperer in Darkness The Music of Erich Zann >good tier:Pickman's ModelThe Horror at Red HookThe Thing on the Doorstep Charles Dexter WardCool Air>mid/badThe rest, but I haven't read them all
>>25249695they're absolute dog shit
>>25249695The only one that actually scared me was Dreams in the Witch House, although as I understand the consensus is that that one is considered one of his weaker stories. What makes is so effective for me is that contrary to the majority of Lovecraft’s stories that take place in the dark corners of the world where you have to purposefully look for evil shit, in Dreams the abominations attack IN THE PROTAGONIST’S ROOM, the one place in the world where you SHOULD be safe.I’ve had nightmares of Brown Jenkin (pic related) chewing/clawing my face off.The adaptation in Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities hasn’t done the story any favors, when I watched it it literally felt like a parody with how silly it is.
recommend his story 'He' if you want an obscure Lovecraft gem
