Yeah, I think the overall dropoff isn't actually bad. It's just not as smooth a gradient from 3 to 4 as it is from 4 to my current chapters and I was curious as to if that's just RR user habits or if there was some kind of shift I didn't even realize I was doing that's caused the gap.

Overall I think my views are better than I expected them to be at this point, I hit 1500 already and the majority of my advertising was within the first 5 days of starting (largely because I've run out of places to shill within my creative wheelhouse), it's mostly just been lucky post timing. You lose nothing by filing the report and going "This guy has a history of exclusively using reviews for something best left as comments, and does it entirely to damage people's metrics. The funny thing about negative reviews is that more often than not, they accrue the most upvotes. I leave mostly negative reviews (10+), and most get the #1 spot on the most upvotes ordering (even if they're top RS).

I think people want to hate, but they feel posting their own review, negative comments or even a low score is a step too far, and use negative reviews as an outlet for their frustration.

Thus, I think it's a bad idea to flush them out; you'll just see more of those users leave a low rating instead.

Someone here told me to read So I’m a Spider So What? when I asked for LN recs, or to somebody else, not too sure, so I picked it up. I actually liked this one. Although I only read until Volume 7. After that I looked up something and that spoiled me and then I looked up everything, and looking at that ending I think I stopped at the perfect time?
Anyway, what I liked about it was of course the MC and how she perceives the world. Her chapters were such a delight. Cool timeline trick too. I tried watching a bit of the anime but wow they just used CG for everything, I like the voice acting of the MC though.
I’ve also been slowly reading A Regressors Tale of Cultivation after someone talked about it here. I think it is slightly better in terms of translation quality/writing than RI (which I’ve read only 1 volume of) but I’ve not really been hooked yet. There’s nothing that’s turning me off though, so still going to stick with it. I’m at chapter 63 of that (8th cycle I think)

Difficult question. I enjoyed the anime at 1.5x speed, but getting through the LN depends on just how much you like it. I tried reading the first volume and just couldn't, dropped it a third of the way in. It's one thing watching someone be dumb, dense or cringe for a couple 20-minute episodes. It's a whole different ballpark during a few hour reading session. Your mileage may vary.

As a reader, I skip over 5 star reviews when evaluating a story. I find that most of the time they have nothing interesting to say. Yeah bro the grammar and spelling is on point, no mistakes, what a fucking surprise, the author is passed 6th grade English. The vast majority of readers, myself included, have absolutely terrible taste in fiction, so why should I care that somebody thinks this is the top 1% of formulaic slop? But a negative review implies that somebody at least gave enough of a fuck to get upset about a story and brave the backlash that comes with violating the five star review hugbox.

Maybe backlash is a strong word. Some people are conflict averse and speaking about their negative opinions can invite/require a discussion or defense they didn't want to engage in. Some people are aware of how review scores can impact success and thus hold their response because they don't want to harm a creator. Most people, myself included, probably just don't give enough of a fuck to elaborate on why they dropped a story, especially if they feel like they can't explain well enough to give meaningful feedback. "It didn't vibe with me, 3/5" feels like the kind of comment that an author would bitch about, I'd expect them to bitch about, and I'd feel bad that I upset them with my half-baked opinions.

As the story never seriously entertains the possibility calling it a fetish story is a massive reach; I have the feeling it's simply a very common chinese trope. Ah, that makes sense. I tend to like a moderate bit of scenery in both reading and writing. Enough to ground everything and make the image clearer, but not so much that it comes across as jerking off your descriptive skills. Treating it like a spice rather than meat, so to speak.
White room is fine in my eyes if the location isn't all that important or it's a common spot that's frequently visited.

Numbers going up is usually what I find least compelling; I've run enough TTRPG campaigns to really think about numbers going up and the fakeness of "difficulty". So often the goblins get replaced with goblin kings get replaced with demons get replaced with dragons or whatever; the numbers go up but the texture doesn't change. Sometimes there's a boldness in the escalation (something like TTGL comes to mind with this kind of scaling) but usually it's just stale.

I really want the ability to be surprised by the author. Sometimes this is vague/flexible powers that the characters can exploit, and other times this is narrowly or explicitly defined things that get synergized. I liked the early parts of HWFWM cause new powers got revealed and they were usually pretty fun and synergistic, before it became quite so masturbatory. William Oh is my current gold standard for fun power system bullshit.
