Once upon a time, three people sat trapped in a cave. They didn't realize they were trapped: they spent their whole lives in the cave and thought it comprised the entirety of reality. Sitting chained together and in place, the three passed the time by watching shadows cross the wall in front of them. In the shadows they could recognize different things. To them, there was no distinction between the shadows they saw in front of them and the thing that they recognized in them.
Suddenly, a quake rumbled through the cave. The three cowered. A hail of dirt and rock showered them. When the quaking subsided, they dusted themselves off and took stock. None of them was injured. However, one of them discovered that the chains had come loose. The other two remained trapped, but this one could stand up and walk around...

While commenting on writing an idea grew. A writing sandbox. Head over to this thread, take a gander. comment, and heck that thread needs another character. It needs (you)

"Hey!" She said "I'm free!"

"Then help me get these chains off, will you" one of her fellow captives replied.

"Don't bother" said the other. "I can't believe you've bought into her whole freedom routine. Don't you know it's such an old, tired trope? Not to mention how offensive it is."

"What in the world do you mean? How is it offensive to anyone that we get out of these chains?"

"tsk tsk tsk" the grumbler interjected, "There you go, calling them chains again. Am I the sole thinker in a world of nit wits, eh—no offense to either of you. Well, except for the freedom lunatic."

The two were staring at the third with a look of rising confusion and the need to slap him on the face. Seemingly ignorant of this, he continued "First of all, it must be said that there are no such things as chains and subsequently what you call freedom. Secondly, this freedom you speak of has been the source of much vexation for all of our kind since time immemorial. I very much wish that we could all outgrow this collective fantasy and live in the real world"

"But... you DO have chains on, just look down at them" the first said.

The third fired back, indignant this time "Look down? There's no such thing as down! If it were not so light would not come solely from that point over there"

"You mean up?"

"Yes, up is the Real, up is where we look to see light there is only ever up, otherwise there would be two lights, which is simply ridiculous. You must be one of those Reflectionists who still believe that the light is not a source of light but is merely a hole through which light pours into our world" he began thrashing violently now, he was too far to reach the other two but his chains made a terrible crashing sound, "I won't stand around here and be lectured by a Reflectionist who has atrophied they're brain just so they can live in hollow of their head!"

/lit/ isn't creative enough for this thread

I wrote the only response to this bread. Go write a part 3

"That's an interesting perspective," the free one said, calling out over the rattling chains. "But you're confusing me because none of us had any idea what 'freedom' was before I got free. Now, after only a moment, you've developed a whole epistemology complete with jargon? How do you explain that?"

Instead of confronting this blatant logical flaw, the third shut his eyes, plugged his ears, and, at the top of his lungs, repeated, "I'm not listening! I'm not listening!"

The first sighed. "Here," she said, knelt to wrestle the second's chains off. After some finagling, his chains came loose, and he was free, too. For the first time, the pair turned around and gazed behind them.

A long stone corridor terminated in a light, its end invisible behind the glare. The third's yelling faded while the pair ventured down it. The light appeared to grow higher and higher while they came closer to it, until finally, they saw the window from which the light flooded high above their heads. Underneath the light stood a door. Neither of the two was familiar with doors, but there was nothing else of note around. So, after some minutes of poking, feeling, and testing, the first one turned the knob, and the door opened. Startled, the pair took a step back. But the sudden expansion to their world came as a minor shock compared to the sight behind the door.

His back to them, a 300 lbs neckbard sat naked in an office chair, engrossed in a computer screen displaying /d/, deep in the throes of an hours-long gooning session, and close.

The first took the first step forward. The second followed behind. Afraid to make a sound, they crept up to the masturbator.

"Excuse me?" she finally said.

"What the fuck?!" the neckbard cried.

Panic failed to override his orgasm. Swiveling his chair to face them, spunk shot out of him, coating the closest of the pair (the first). She had had her mouth open so she could assure the stranger that they meant no harm. That was a mistake.

"Shit... shit..." said the neckbeard, panting.

A little voice in the first one's head told her not to swallow. Her throat got the message too late. She cringed.

"You're free? How did you get free?" asked the neckbeard, frantically pulling up a nearby pair of sweatpants.

When the first didn't respond (busy spitting, coughing, and gagging), the second, rather than answer, asked back, "Who are you?"

The neckbeard took a deep breath. "I'm the projectionist," he said.

>8 word metafictional pastiche on the state of /lit/, the rampant samefagging and the ridiculousness of word count having any relation to quality or effort
Think we have a winner.

Samefag.
>>
>>25255541
Wouldn't that just extend the metafiction and the pastiche and therefore the word count and the "effort?"
>>
>>25255544
Only if it is developed to extend the meaning.
>>
>>25255547
The retard angle pretty much means he/((You)/(Me)) can't fail unless he/((You)/(Me)) manages to resolve it but I am not sure if resolving it would mean failure, worst case he((You)/(Me)) just needs to keep it up long enough until his autism causes all of us to give up.
>>
>>25255550
I suppose that does work, but are we really up to that sort of commitment?
>>
>>25255554
Does it matter? This is /lit/ so we are almost certainly incel neets who never finish anything. I am finding it difficult to find anyway we can lose.
>>
>>25255561
Yeah, now that I think about it I can't see how we can't win. So, are you samefagging?
>>
>>25255567
>>
>>25255572
You avoided the question, anyone can edit a screenshot.
>>
>>25255573
I was extending the meta by bringing in the second person and the inherent metafictional aspect of 4chan, all those posts were also made be Anonymous, were they not?
>>
>>25255582
Now I am lost. The whole second person thing I get, You is a dual perspective, it is an unnamed character and you but not you in some larpy way. I can say you fucked the queen of England, but that does not mean you did and you don't suddenly believe that you did because I said you did; you just know that I either believe you did or want you to believe that I believe you did or I am fucking with you which affects your understanding of the unnamed character, did they fuck the queen? I have no idea about Anonymous, seems like some borg shit or something, collective and singular first person at once.
>>
>>25255596
Anonymous is Anonymous. Have you never samefagged to the point you lost track of your samefags?
>>
>>25255602
I think I might be doing that now. I have no clue how many of us there are, one, two, or three? Don't think there are three, but there could be. Still unsure what you are getting at about Anonymous.
>>
>>25255610
There is just one, Anonymous. It is pretty much the same thing as second person, we don't really know who said anything and we all lose track of our samefagging at times so we have to treat every post the same and not read for the (You)s.
>>
>>25255612
This seems to be getting dangerously close to a resolution and has drifted off topic.
>>
>>25255615
Resolution is just moving the goalposts of failure so still on point. Still on topic unless you can manage to prove some things that you can't possibly prove.

>>
>>25255617
So, we are pretty much in the same place as we started. Good song.
>>
>>25255620
Pretty much but we moved the goalposts and now they are not blocking the view.
>>
>>25255623
Is that what Wilde meant? Never really thought about and just assumed it was a witty quip.
>>
>>25255625
Wilde's gutter is pretty much the same thing as Plato's cave and 4chan's goalposts.
>>
>>25255631
huh, guess so. How does slowly fizzling out work? Does that undermine the metafiction? Sort of feeling some pressure here.
>>
>>25255640
It works just fine. I thought you were getting the hang of this.
>>
>>25255642
I think I am but that was just a way to say that I am fizzling out, almost bedtime.
>>
lol.
>>
Awful fucking thread, everyone
>>
>>25255948
I enjoyed the meta narrative.
