hundred pages or so in and theres yet to be an interesting conversation or a surprising action or thought by the main character. its not outright bad but does it ever get better than "fine"? with there being seven volumes, i assume there must be some reason as though its popularity
>>25253532Third book, apparently.
>>25253532>i assume there must be some reason as though its popularitymodern readers don't recognize shit it steals wholesale because they never read those older works. that's it. people who rave over sun eater never read a sf book from more than ten years ago.
>>25253533>Third book, apparently.fuckin hell>>25253538do you have an alternative you would recommend? i picked this because some people here, not necessarily lit but other boards, said it was decent. im looking for something not wildly difficult to read and im more interested in characters/dialogue than worldbuilding or how exactly technology works.
>>25253532Why are you reading slop?
>>25253532One of the only books I have dropped. Beyond boring after he started researching the alien civilization or whatever after the gladiator arc. Which even that was boring. Actually the moment he left his home planet was when it started to drop in quality. I also find it annoying that the big thing I am reading for is the cool moment when he earns the title of Sun Eater, not all the random shit in between. It is like the author had a cool idea, or climax, and then just through in filler to make it a full length series.
>>25254158>thousand cock SSRI stare>crucifix

>>25253532>my heckin slopperino is heckin subpar! You can't be serious>with there being seven volumes, i assume there must be some reason as though its popularityOh my god, you're serious. This is what you think reading is. This is how you think about literature. Lmfao
>>25253532try not reading megapopular mainstream garbage
>>25253532I liked it, though having a centuries old evil planet ruling dynasty have a name as mundane as Marlow kinda ruins my immersion a bit.
>>25253532>when, if ever, does this start being good?It doesn't, because it's not a real book.
>>25253532Isn't this like Dune but with anaien invasión instead of the political and social commentary?
>25254431Woman moment
