>this is what constitutes a best-selling book in 2026
There's no way that this can't be outdone easily. You have no excuse for not writing an best-selling goonfic in 2026.

I don‘t want to.
>>

There's a difference between quality and copies sold. I'm sure even AI can outrank it easily in the quality department, but it would take a good advertising team and a promotional campaign to outsell it.
>>
>>25254114
Well whatever Brothers Karamazov ripoff or stream-of-consciousness slop you spill your heart into night after night, will never be read by anyone. You are getting mogged by middle-aged women typing out sexualized ripoffs of Eragon with one hand while raking in millions.
>>
>>25254127
You sound more concerned about that than I am.
>>
>>25254131
If no one ever reads your work, are you even really a writer? Might as well have just kept your thoughts in your own head.

>If no one ever reads your work, are you even really a writer?

Yes
>>
>>25254111
This sounds kino. Why do we /lit/fags not like this kind of thing again?
>>
>>25254127
>>25254159
Who cares?
Unless that was his job or main source of income there's no reason why would anyone should bother with sales. The only ones who are obsessed with that are women and gay men. The kind of people who spend their lives on twitter defending popslags like Taylor Swift because she sold 1 million records in a week or something like that crap.

>if you're not doing porn, are you even having sex? Might as well just fap.
>>
>>25254262
Writing is not inherently pleasurable and hormonally rewarded.
>>
Painfully generic. So you just gotta write a novel nowdays and it will sell?
>>
>>25254406
Yes but it has to have sex in it.
ALSO I am not sure if you need to be a woman to write goonfics.
from one angle: does it need to have a female name on the cover?
from another angle: do you need to be female to truly understand what really gets them off on an instinctual level, to be able to write it?
Is there a single goonfic author who is male?
>>
>>25254455
You're on to something. I think you at least need to be gay. Isn't there a whole Reddit about men writing women and how it disgusts women? I guess if you try your hand at these goonfics and they catch even a whiff of your maleness, you're out.
>>
>>25254462
I'll try a false name.
>Isn't there a whole Reddit about men writing women and how it disgusts women?
Yes.
>I guess if you try your hand at these goonfics and they catch even a whiff of your maleness, you're out.
I'll learn some about some of the male goonfic writers.
I just need to find out where they get sold.

Male goonfics? Some make a living on Literotica and Patreon. I've never seen any actual erotica novels for men, but there are plenty of 'echii harem' ones aimed at young males. That's pretty much why I don't write serious goonfic; I don't like the Patreon model of writing stories that go on forever, and finding a loyal audience to keep following your stories seems especially difficult in that genre.
>>

Harry Potter + Eragon + Woman.
>>
>>25254482
I want to write it for women because they're the ones who buy them.
>>
>>25254111
it's painfully obvious that the people who make these endless outrage bait threads are zoomers who have never been exposed to books in their entire lives and just got into "litrachur" ten minutes ago via patrick bateman tiktoks, otherwise they'd know that bestsellers have a long and proud history of being irredeemable garbage
>>
>>25254537
Can't help there. Maybe read a lot of Jane Austen, Brontë sisters, Twilight, and 50 Shades. Again, I feel it can be done, but also that you'll be walking into a minefield and will get swept on the first cleavage described too coomey.
>>
>>25254482
I want to write erotica for men, but I worry my fetishes wouldn't appeal to a general audience. Trying to establish a niche using a sub-niche seems foolhardy.
>>
>>25254812
You're completely right to feel that. I have a few (sadly, fanfic) erotic stories, and my favorite and best-written overall is the least popular. Near zero clicks. Just because of the fetishes there. The most popular? Harem slop.
