Asimov's Foundation series. I bought it and everything, but it's just too damn long, and I doubt it's anywhere near as entertaining as LRH's "Mission Earth".

I personally love the parts in the books that focus on Adam and Eve and the vouchsafing of the angels since though these books you get a good sense a lot of Milton’s own views on science, philosophy, morality as well as his disdain for Catholicism and (yes) women. even if the parts with Satan ARE better, the especially in rhetoric (which is the point) and poetic quality.
