Will I become truely smarter if I read books?
>>
NO.
>>
>>25267360
I suppose it depends on what you read?
>>
I don’t recommend, I spent my early to mid 20s trying too hard and trying to look cool by becoming inspired by reading books, now I’m an uninspired chud who has accepted he’s dumb and that nobody ever cared anyways.

Nobody cares.
>>
>>25267360
no but you'll be more interesting
>>
>>25267360
As the namefag said, no. Which is not to say you can't become smarter by reading books, just that anyone asking such a question is not going to, at least not going to unless they figure out why reading books is not going to make the smarter. Need to identify the problem before you look for a solution.

Sell me on Clarice.

Like imagine putting a lot of effort into song lyrics in which you reference philosophy terms but most people don’t listen to the lyrics anyways.

That’s what life is like right there.

Only if you start living from the knowledge you acquire, and the ideas you absorb, from reading. Otherwise, you may end up like this couple of self defeated faggots >>25267361 >>25267392 and become frustrated and mentally ill down the line. True intelligence boils down to your capacity to live your life, and get the experiences you want from it, nothing less than that.
>>

Books aren’t what destroyed me but they definitely didn’t help.

This guy>>25267361 is a fucking wackjob but in this instance, he's correct.
>>
>>25267447
He has been fairly solid since he stopped obsessing about Kenny.
>>
>>25267392
What books did you read?I need to know so I can avoid them and pick better ones that will actually inspire me into becoming the genius I know I am.
>>
>>25267534
All you ignore is the self.
>>
>>25267360
Of course, maybe not by a lot but of course if you read good books and enforce what you read to truly learn. You will pick up patterns of thought and you will add these to your belt and will handle your day to day problems with a bit more efficiency.

You can’t ignore the humor you don’t have.

books make you dumber
>>
>>25267360
I think you just get smarter along the way mate. Keep reading and dont worry too much about what other people think of you.
>>
>>25267360
No.
It's that smart people -already- like to read. If you force yourself to read, it means that you're not smart and also pretend to be one.
It's like eating with chopsticks because you think it will make you understand japanese.
>>
>>25267360
No, you read books because you are already smart

You? Probably not.

It doesn’t hurt and most other people view it positively in this day and age.
>>
Unlikely, but you may very well become more knowledgeable.
>>
>>25267360
Yes you will. If you read classics, history, logic and philosophy or learn a language. I guarantee that. Especially if you’re young.
>>
>>25267360
You will be an idiot with a better vocabulary
>>
>>25267360
Depends on the types of books you read. you can't make an idiot into a scholar if all they read is romantasy slop
>>
>>25267360
What do you mean by 'smarter'?
>>
>>25269189
Basically this. Reading won't raise your potential, but it will sharpen how you use your cognition
>>
if you only read to become smarter you are a retard
>>
>>25267360
No. But you might become more knowledgeable if you are not reading crappy books. Whether you can put that knowledge to good use is up to you, however.
>>
>>25267360
Being smart involves putting together facts to reach conclusions. Reading books may not necessarily make you better at the "putting together" - that might need its own form of study - but even casual reading (i.e. not making flash cards or chapter summaries etc.) will teach you facts. So in the end, yes, you will be smarter.
Plus, if you are able to excise all of your social media time and replace it with reading, your attention span will be so much greater than that of your peers/the average normie that you will seem like a monk in comparison.
>>
Will I get a gf if I read more books?

you might become more eloquent which is often mistaken for intelligence

Book smart yes. But book smart is useless without application.
