Koji Suzuki, the author of the Ring novel series, has passed away on May 8th, 2026. He was 68 years old.

The first book was fun ride. The two main characters were absolute retards which made it possible for the reader to keep up. The premise behind the curse was also much more creative than the movies. In the first book it's smallpox virus using dead body of esoteric medium to evolve into different kind of virus. It's thematically fitting since the medium was a woman who was raped, abused and used her whole life - but she didn't want revenge, she wanted death. And even this wish she did not get - as she is being used by a virus.
The following books apparently go completely insane and off the rails.
