I’m going to read Marx. What should I know before I start? Should I read any other philosophers first? Can I jump straight into Capital?
For Marx you need Hegel and the wider milieu of German Idealism, as well as several specific writers he and Engels are responding to (Proudhon, Stirner, Feuerbach, Dühring, Bauer). For German Idealism you obviously need Kant, and the CoPR will be pretty much incomprehensible if you don't have Aristotle, Descartes, Locke, Berkeley, Leibniz, and Hume, all of whom he directly addresses. Wolff is probably good to have as well.
>>25269425notice how he didn't recommend any actual economists? tells u pretty much all u need to know.
Ignore the first guy if you are planning to read the Capital. For other things like Grundrisse and German Ideology you might need to do some reading beforehand
Jump into Capital it’s by far his best work.
>>25269507Yup. Marx uses a bit of Hegel jargon at times but nothing a google can’t solve.
>>25269347I'm sure this isn't the marxfag making his 10th marx thread of the day but a genuinely curious anon asking a genuine question
>>25269520Marxism is on the rise organically little migger. Deal.
Uh oh... guys it says groucho marx on the cover. Was that his nickname? Spent like $110 on it and need to know
>>25269347I started reading a few months ago. Completed jewish question, phenomenal ideas (sometimes a bit wacky) . Now stuck at German Ideology. >>25269507Even knowing a general gist of Hegel, Stirner etc is enough.
This thread deserves a bump.
Is it true Marx was an antisemite?
>>25269659He stereotyped jews as bankers and merchants. Common sentiment at the time but would be considered problematic today
>>25269663Is he wrong?
>>25269606>Everyone in this thread deserves a helicopter rideDude it's just one tranny samefagging settle down
