Explanation:

"Substitute Creacher" summary: class gets a green tentacled monster as a substitute teacher on Halloween, who relates the misfortunes of several misbehaved former students, the last of whom is "Chris" who stole so much candy while dressed up as a monster many years ago that a real gnome there with real powers curses him to transform into that monster for real, and that's him. At the students' encouragement the substitute brings back candy and seeks out the gnome, and magically becomes the boy Chris again.

St. Christopher summary: once there is a big giant/monster named Reprobus who keeps trying to serve the most evil masters, which ends up being a king and then the Devil. He carries a child across a river who keeps getting heavier with each step, who then reveals himself as Christ, and renames the giant Christopher, meaning "Christ-carrier".

If I were that kid I'd stay a monster because that sounds a lot cooler than being a kid
